Despite being viewed as probably the best TE prospect, his torn ACL in the bowl game caused him to slide to round 5. Luckily he had an insurance contact that should help compensate for the drop:
He first started collecting, at $10,000 a pick tax-free, in the middle of the third round, a source with knowledge of the policy with ISI told ESPN. By being passed over in the fourth round as well, Butt was set to receive $543,000 on the policy.
Two thoughts:
1) Despite his school choice, he always seemed like a stand-up dude, so his fall kinda sucks.
2) Guys who sat out their bowl games (Fournette, McCaffrey, Peppers) all went in the first round, while Butt played and got hurt and fell like a rock. Time will tell if this accelerates the bowl game trend we saw last year, but it's certainly possible.
Also, keep low-effort jokes to a minimum.
