WR Ahmir Mitchell has had an interesting and challenging road since HS. As a highly recruited 4* WR (#9 WR, #167 overall per 24/7), the 6'3" 205 lb Mitchell was courted heavily by OSU, TTUN, Rutgers, FSU, BC, and other major programs during the spring and summer of 2015. OSU was one of the two final schools in his decision, but he eventually committed to TTUN on August 27, 2015, and enrolled early in Jan. 2016. (Side note: We got Mack and Victor, so OSU wasn't hurt too bad by his choice).

He never played a game for TTUN, and was suspended in mid-August 2016 for unspecified reasons. In early Sept. 2016, Mitchell asked for, and was granted, a full scholarship release. He transferred to Rutgers before the start of 2016 football season, where he sat out the year per NCAA rules.

Fast forward to this week, and the sad news is that he tore his ACL in spring practice. Rutgers hopes to have him back at some point this season, but a medical redshirt is more likely.

Best of luck to the young man in his recovery. I wonder what could have been if he'd come to OSU originally?
