The University of North Carolina is in the headlines again and, again, it's not good. A sophomore, Delaney Robinson, was allegedly raped on Valentine's Day and is going public with the case out of frustration with both prosecutors and the university, whom she claims have been slow to bring justice.

Realizing that a simple allegation does not prove that the player, Allen Artis, is guilty, I'm more curious about the length of time the process is taking. It seems like seven months is a long time, but I'm not a lawyer. Given the shit-storm of bad publicity that UNC has had to endure due to it's woeful relationship between academics and sports and the sensitivity that has to accompany any sexual assault case after the Baylor debacle, I guess this just seems incredibly tone-deaf. Would love to hear from the 11W legal minds.
