Everyone's favorite Big Ten Coach of the Year will be coaching the Iowa Hawkeyes of the foreseeable future. Kirk Ferentz agreed to what amounted to a six-year extension, as he was already under contract through 2020.

Ferentz will turn 70 in 2026, should he fulfill his contract. He's been the coach of the Hawkeyes since 1999, and has won B1G COY at least every other year during that span of time.

From the university's press release on the subject:

Kirk is one of the top coaches in country. His commitment to winning, graduating student-athletes, and doing things the right way is unmatched by any program or coach. There is strong momentum surrounding the Hawkeye football program. Whether it’s on the field, recruiting, academics, facilities, or with his staff, we’re achieving at a high level today, and are well positioned for continued success for years to come.

The new deal also came with a slight pay bump: Ferentz will now earn roughly $4.5 million per year, up from the $4 million he's been raking in since his 2010 contract. He is tied with "Big Game Bob" Stoops as the longest-tenured coaches in the FBS.
