Interesting article, football purists will be outraged and post about the "sissyfication" of football etc., but I think tackling against "robotic" heavy padded opponents and not your actual teammate is a good idea that could, as the article states, prolong the life of the sport. The fact the number of concussions for the Dartmouth football teams decreased by 80% is impressive.
When I used to be in the martial arts, our instructions would have us punch and kick bags, they would move them and we'd have to react, and it was no picnic. Boxers practice with padded gloves etc., they simply can't spar every day even with sparring opponents and wearing head gear.
