So a Machiavellian(ish) thought passed through my head when I read the espn article stating B12 coaches prefer Houston and BYU for expansion. We know Okie has been pushing that agenda for some time, but UT had been saying no.
Do you suppose the idea of admitting Houston was given an okay in Austin in an attempt to shore up embattled coach Strong? Herman seems a great, logical choice with one more strong year matched to another under-achieving Charlie year.
I don't know B12 protocol on hiring head coaches from fellow member institutions (relative the B10's prohibition on same). However, if the AD and Coach are trying to take a threat off the table and maybe buy Charlie a teeny bit more slack, getting Houston (and their star coach) to commit to coming on board might be a shrewd move.
Thoughts?
