There is some initial discussion from power 5 conferences about doing away with academic acceptance standards for incoming freshmen and leaving it up to each individual school to set up their standards. They would tie the number of scholarships available the schools can hand out with the graduation rates of that particular school. If you bring in too many borderline (or worse) students who don't graduate, you lose scholies. My personal opinion would be some schools would put these students on a joke degree path just to keep them eligible (some would argue there are schools that already do just that). I don't know where this is going, if anywhere at all. But my initial feelings are this is a terrible idea. What say you, the academic oriented members of 11W? Like or dislike?
Is the NCAA thinking about abolishing Incoming Freshman Academic Requirements?
