Given that we could be on the verge of witnessing the single greatest draft class from one school in history, I find it appropriate to see what exactly the 2016 Ohio State draftees are up against.

I have spent the last few months, during various times of freedom, calculating the top draft classes since the NFL Draft condensed into 7 rounds in 1994. I looked up the rankings behind the most players in the NFL by school and used that as a starting point for whom I would research their draft numbers.

The criteria I have used to score every draft class is one of reversing the numbers of rounds and assigning that amount of points to that class. Therefor, a school may have more draft picks, but have a lower score due to the fact that a large portion of those players were taken in lower rounds (1st Round=7 Points, 2nd Round=6 Points, 3rd Round=5 Points, etc.) Here is what I have come up with...

Top 10 Schools By Total # of Players Drafted:
1) Florida State: 134
2) Ohio State: 128
3) Miami/USC: 119
4) Florida: 115
5) Georgia: 112
6) Notre Dame: 108
7) Tennessee: 106
8) LSU: 104
9) Alabama: 103
10) Nebraska: 102

Top 10 Schools By Total Accumulated Draft Score:
1) Florida State: 619
2) Ohio State: 562
3) Miami: 539
4) USC: 515
5) Florida: 508
6) LSU: 455
7) Tennessee: 450
8) Georgia: 448
9) Alabama: 447
10) Nebraska: 386

Top 10 Single Classes By Draft Score:
1) 2004 Ohio State (60)
2) 2002 Miami/2006 Ohio State/2008 USC/2009 USC (53)
3) 2000 Tennessee/2005 Oklahoma/2006 USC (52)
4) 2010 Florida (51)
5) 1995 Florida State/2015 Florida State (50)
6) 1994 Notre Dame (49)
7) 2006 Miami/2013 Florida State (46)
8) 2001 Florida State/2004 Miami (45)
9) 1999 Florida (44)
10) 1998 Florida State/2006 Florida State/2013 LSU/2014 LSU (43)

Top 10 By Average Score Per Draftee:
1) Texas (4.671)
2) Florida State (4.619)
3) Miami (4.529)
4) Florida (4.417)
5) Ohio State (4.390)
6) LSU (4.375)
7) UCLA (4.372)
8) Alabama (4.339)
9) USC (4.327)
10) Texas A&M (4.287)

I am a firm believer that Ohio State can (and will) break the all time (their own) record for draft score in May. I think I speak for every Buckeye fan out there when I say that this years draft is going to be especially fun to watch.

Oh, and to add some humor to this post, the blue teams scores...

Drafted Players: 85 (13th)
Total Draft Score: 358 (15th)
Best Draft Class: 2001 (33)
Average Score Per Draftee: 4.211 (15th)
