We knew it was bad for Penn State this weekend, losing to Temple for the first time in more than half a century. How bad, you ask? Bad enough that former players took to the modern soapbox - Twitter - to air their grievances.

In the wake of the Nittany Lions’ unprecedented, puzzling loss to Temple -- their first loss to the Owls since 1941 -- numerous lettermen took to Twitter and elsewhere to express their disbelief. Penn State doesn’t lose to Temple, after all. At least it hadn’t in 39 prior meetings.

But Penn State lost to Temple, 27-10, on Saturday. And most ex-players couldn’t believe it, not just that PSU lost -- but the way in which it lost. The Lions allowed 10 sacks. Their last 12 offensive drives consisted of just 40 plays for 35 yards. Their last six drives were even worse -- 21 plays for a combined negative-1 yard.

Yep, they were bad, and the fanbase noticed. Can Franklin weather the storm? Hmmm. Makes you think, for sure.
