Here's an article from Rich Exner at Cleveland.com that breaks down Ohio State Athletic Department statistics:

"Ohio State competes at the Division I level just like 10 other public universities in Ohio, but its financial ledger tells a different story. Consider these numbers, according to the most recent reports filed with the NCAA, for 2013-14:

OSU has 35 sports teams with just over 1,000 athletes; the other schools each field 16 to 19 teams with about 500 athletes on average.

Some 720 OSU students received full or partial athletic scholarships,  more than double the number for Ohio's other schools.

The $7.5 million Ohio State receives annually from just the Big Ten Network would be enough to pay for all the athletic scholarships at places such as Ohio University, Kent State and Cincinnati.

Just the $28.2 million OSU reported receiving in athletic donations could cover all the bills at most of the other schools. In fact, these contributions could pay the combined total expenses for sports at Cleveland State and Youngstown State, with money to spare.

OSU's athletic department generated $145.2 million, easily more than the combined total generated by the athletic departments at the 10 other public universities."
