It looks like the Big 12 whined hard enough and the rules legislating the minimum number of teams in a conference in order to hold a conference championship game are going to be backed off. Per the story below, them and the ACC pushed the legislation and it looks like the NCAA will allow it.
Personally, I'm of the belief that a conference championship game wouldn't have helped the Big 12 last year since TCU or Baylor would have been playing a scrub team in the game instead of each other, but that's just me.
