It is being reported that the NCAA has approved the medical hardship waiver for Jabrill Peppers, which means he now has 4 years of eligibility left instead of 3. He played in 3 total games last season (correct me if I am wrong, please). I know OSU players have also received such waivers in the past.

Any idea on what goes into this decision making process such as the type/severity of the injury, amount of playing time they put in during the season, etc..?
