PHONE'S RINGING -- IT'S URBAN ON THE LINE
Yes or No?
Follow up: How soon?
Yes, he will.
An angry fan...rooting for an angry team...led by angry coaches
TTUN fans would rather talk tOSU failures in the past ten years than their own successes. Probably because they haven't had a lot of success.
Tom Crean sucks
It looks like Thad is saying, "go cry about it", or maybe, "bite me, Tom". I'm not 100% sure.
Or, "Check out the scoreboard, eat it."
I think he can and will with in the next three years.
I think there is an outside chance this season, with everyone back except Thomas and Ravenel. I was hoping that Thad might find another good front court guy this summer, and there were a few talented guys who transferred from other schools with eligibility for this year, but no cigar.
I don't think he ever will, but not really by any fault of his own. Our player's tend to randomly shoot 20% one game and we lose.
dat dere witchita st game.....cringe
That's what makes winning an NC in the format of a one and done tournament so ridiculously difficult. You hang around at the top long enough though, some of those breaks, fortunes/misfortunes are supposed to go your way eventually. I think he can eventually get it done but it's impossible to say when with the tourney. I think the more we're able to hold on to guys and have veteran teams along with some NBA talent (like this year) the better chance we'll have of making it through and gutting out games where we aren't particularly shooting very well. That being said, there's just too many unknowns with this team offensively to accurately assess them in the preseason.
No he won't deliver AN national championship.
But he may deliver A national championship.
Look out hide the contraband grammar police in the building..... Get em.
Technically, the way the poster posted was correct if you pronounce NC "en see."
I've actually always wondered about this but have been way too apathetic to actually ask anyone about it because, well, let's be honest, it's rather trivial in the scheme of things. Since it's written NC but stands for National Championship, is it correct to use "a" or "an" in front it? Not to say you're wrong, UC, but I'd like to hear from the likes of Hodge or any of the other writers chime in on it and see what they say.
Sweet, back to back gif usage.....
"Success - it's what you do with what you got" - Woody Hayes
I keep waiting for the line of Yes signs to end.
It's like the beginning of Spaceballs...
“Show class, have pride, and display character. If you do, winning takes care of itself.”
FWIW, I think Matta goes down as the best coach in Ohio State basketball history which means I think we does win a national championship. This is of course partially dependent on his health which has been a bit of an issue.
I sure hope so, but I just don't see it, unfortunately.
Only if he builds a solid bench to keep his lineup strong while subbing players in and out of the game. I don't care what people say, if you've ever coached basketball, you know that you have to have more than a 6 or 7 man rotation. Especially in the Big Ten. I also think he should at least have 1, 7 footer with some athleticism if he's going to be able to do it.
He needs guys to stick around and develop to really have a reliable bench. Once you get to the tournament a lot of teams/coaches prefer to rely on a shorter rotation and prefer to have their best on the floor as much as possible.
I love Matta and he is one of the best recruiting coaches in the biz. But his game management and game adjustments have left me shaking my head. And it is this part of his coaching that makes me think we don't deliver an NC to tOSU. Just my belief on the subject. But I will root for him and the Buckeyes until I die!
Because they wouldn't let me go for 3!
Woody Hayes 1913-1987
Sorry, gotta be that guy.
It's football season. I'm more curious if Urban wins a NC THIS year, right now.
I'll answer this in a few months.
I saw a UFO once.......it told me to have a goodyear!
yes. next year. ring it up.
I know there's a game saturday, and my ass will be there.
Shouldn't it be: "Will Matta Deliver A NC" ?
"You win with people." - Woody Hayes
Of course - within 3 years
I'm really happy with him and his program. He has done a great job. Even if he doesn't win a NC in the near future, I'm still behind him. I'd would be nice to get one though.
He will end up with 2 or more. Its hard with everyone jumping early but its gonna happen!!!
Keeping Luke Kennard in state will be vital to this prediciton!!
Because we couldn't go for three!!!
I have to say the odds are against it, but that's true for virtually everybody. If you were to tell me Matta was coaching another 15 years, the only schools I'd feel comfortable saying "Yes, they will definitely win a national title in that span" are Kentucky and North Carolina.
All you can do is keep recruiting well and hope for some luck. Unfortunately, we've had generally excellent recruiting, very good luck with the the tournament draw, and many years where two key conference rivals were in a down phase, and still could not take advantage. I'm concerned we're going to look back on 2007-2013 as a major missed opportunity.
The most "loud mouth, disrespect" poster on 11W.
If this team can consistently be in position to contend year after year like they have the past few years, then eventually it will happen. The stars will align at some point.
Class of 2010.
Oh man, do I hope so. Could you imagine winning a NC in football AND basketball in the same year? I would be able to talk so much shit as a sports fan, I think my head would explode. To think we were so close, yet so far away in 06-07...
Don't give up... Don't ever give up.
I hate the Gators, or is it TTDS?
IF Thad can get Myles Turner to go along with the rest of that class, plus he will have seniors Shannon Scott, Sam Thompson, Amir and Trey McDonald (I am assuming Ross leaves), a junior in Amadeo, sophomores Kam Williams and Marc Loving, I would venture to guess that would be the best team Thad has had since the National Runner-Up team. If Ross stays for his senior year, it may be one of the best teams ever to play at OSU. You would have a dominate center, a very good combo guard tandem in Scott and Tate, a deep front line, a sharp shooter in Amadeo and a very good wing player in Thompson. Plus, a bench 3-4 deep.
I would say yes as long as he isn't forced to retire soon due to his leg, which would be a real shame.
Yes I think he will
