PHONE'S RINGING -- IT'S URBAN ON THE LINE
The world celebrates a PO S like Pitino. Has CBS forgotten the sex scandal?
Has CBS forgotten.... FUCK MICHIGAN.
I wish I could give all my upvotes for a year...
That's a thread winner!
Class of 2010.
Winning trumps bad press. See Ray Lewis.
Exactly, it's not like he killed someone geez.
He did cheat on his wife, AND pay off the broad via abortion.
I'm just happy to be here
I think he remembered right after the game when he $hit himself..
Good thing Pitino wasn't wearing his white suit last night.
You can be a great coach and not be a great person.
If that is how you feel then you should probably not watch The Masters this week on CBS.
Ehh, unless Woods is bangin' porn stars and hookers I highly doubt he's got his mojo back. Also I doubt he ever returns to his dominant form, and the field is too good. All of this doesn't mean one can't watch the Masters...
He said the actual intercourse lasted a few minutes ... Quick Rick.
Naw, just 35 seconds, then he had to shoot or give up the ball.....
"Outside of a dog, a book is a man's best friend. Inside of a dog it's too dark to read." - Groucho Marx
15 seconds. Rick earn dat Quick.
Damn, someone has got a quick trigger.
Sometimes perjury makes sense.
Lunch? I think I'll pass... not feeling so well all of a sudden.
Just heard Siva describe Pitino as a father figure. WOW!!!
A person can be very good a t a job and not so good of a person..............I think, if I remember correctly, tonight was about being good at a job
Battles are sometimes won by generals; wars are nearly always won by sergeants and privates. Football is no different, the guys down in the trenches win the games, not the coach.
Wins second title, hall of fame induction.....
He's getting a pass for a little bit.
"Success - it's what you do with what you got" - Woody Hayes
Son gets Minnesota job.
Horse wins <<<(San Anita?)>>> and is off to the Kentucky Derby.
2nd title makes him the first ever head coach to win NCAA titles at two different schools.
Heard on the radio this morning that Pitino promised his players, mid-season, that he would get a tattoo if Louisville won it all. There was no indication of what the tattoo might be.
Those who stay will be CHAMPIONS!
I've got it right here. It's going to be on his chest written backward so he can read it every morning.
"Say my name."
I'm sorry, I'm not a Pitino apologist but you really want to go there?
Name a head coach and player that hasn't cheated on their spouse and I will show you someone who hasn't been caught yet! Infidelity is rampant in our sports and isn't subject to the ones we dislike only!
With what coaches have been doing here recently (have you looked around lately, perhaps towards a Pennsylvania institution?), what Pitino did is not right but it isn't at the level of what so many coaches have done. Petrino just dropped his bike with his side piece just last year, and he gets a job again. Yet you feel that Pitino being showered with praise now is wrong? Where have you been? Here are a few names for you too check out: Sandusky, Petrino, any coach at Miami, any coach under Gene Chizik at Auburn, Mike Leach, Mark Mangino (abusing players is so much worst than infidelity if you ask me).
You don't believe in infidelity, fine. I don't like it either. but don't be judgemental to a society that turns a blind eye to it every day. Pitino is a great coach, doesn't mean he is a great man! If you or anyone has an issue with infidelity in sports, well you might want to take up another hobby. Sadly it won't change anytime soon!
I saw a UFO once.......it told me to have a goodyear!
I agree with you Squirrel. But, it is still fun to tease. Great coach, no matter what he does off the court.
Yes, and I think I'm of an age now where I'm getting past the whole "casting stones at adulterers" thing... The Ray Lewis comparison isn't even close - shagging some chick in a bar pales in comparison to knifing a couple of guys in your limo, really.
The sex scandal is between Rick and Mrs. Pitino, and the rest is just basketball. Pitino is good, really good.
Are you serious? He tried to pay this woman to have an abortion to cover up the scandal and then made her marry his assistant coach! He's a horrible person... the "everyone is doing it mentality" is just wrong. Pitino is a bad person, but I still rooted for his Cards because those kids have nothing to do with that scandal and of course fuck michigan.
"I like to believe that my best hits border on felonious assault."
I'm sure I'm going to get raked over the coals for saying this, but we don't know he's a "bad person" because we don't really know him. I'm one who firmly believes, especially when it comes to these questions of sexual impropriety, that "good people do bad things."
He may be, as you say, a dirtbag, but I doubt anyone patrolling this board actually knows the man well enough to be an accurate gauge of his actual character, rather than making a bunch of judgments based on a sordid media/legal escapade. Again, not saying he's not, I'm just saying that I'm more likely to give a little benefit of the doubt on these highly publicized sex scandals because they tend to get so blown out of proportion (not a political comment, but see the Bill Clinton files for more on how sex scandals get blown - see what I did there - way beyond their actual scope).
I met the guy a couple of times. He is an A$$HOLE!
but he is a darn good coach too and the players play for him.
Plus, I don't see anywhere on here where someone is saying they actually respect and like Pitino. So why the rant? If anything, we all could care less. We just wanted UM to lose! I even live in Louisville and as much as I enjoy watching them a bit, it doesn't effect me half as much as when I watch OSU. Just ask my wife, whom I am very faithful to.
Thanks for the insight - I just tend to agree with your original point about the focus being on the game and quality of coaching and not the "content of his character," so to speak. I can dislike a lot of people for a lot of reasons, but I always roll my eyes when people explode in outrage over famous people's sexual indiscretions. None of my business, none of the rest of the country's business, in other words.
oh, I am right there with you. It is too often that we judge when we don't know the whole story.
I just wanted to say that coaches, like Pitino, are truly not the greatest of people. To expect anything else is really futile.
It's like telling a columnist not to have an opinion, won't happen!
I suspect we could do a very interesting sociological study on the incidence of morally-questionable actions and the accumulation of power (real or perceived) in big-time sports...
she also tried to extort money from him. You think he wanted her to have an abortion? Could it be possible that she got pregnant on purpose? and come on, made someone to Marry someone is ridiculous. Show me the facts please! I want to see the gun to her head when she signed the marriage certificate!
I'm not saying he is okay because "everyone is doing it". I am saying why did the OP feel the need to call him a POS and wonder why everyone is celebrating him when he could make the same post each week! and yes, everyone is doing it! So going off about 1 guy doing it is going to do what, shame everyone for celebrating him as if it is the first time someone who has done what he did has been celebrated. Come on! People have been celebrated hundreds of times after the fact. It will continue to be like this until A) they are no longer put on a pedestal by thousands of fans, B) position of power and C) when groupies stop pulling at their shorts every 5 seconds they take a step. I highly doubt Pitino sought out Sypher. These coaches are seduced! not saying they aren't guilty cus they are!
Guess what, most Type A personalities are horrible people! News Flash, they are the A-holes that do the BS that we won't stupe down so low to do. They are the head coaches, they are the elite talents (no problem with Michael Jordan cheating I guess) and they are the ones who can give a rats ass what we all think! This is a dose of reality, EVERYONE IS DOING IT!
and I am again not saying it is right! Go ahead and kick him to the curb, the next one will be doing the same if not worst! That is the way it is, or have you not heard of John Calipari!
You might want to check your facts there a bit. He did have an affair with the estranged wife of his equipment manager on his team. The lady then tried to extort him for money for an alleged abortion (because she claimed she didn't have health insurance and couldn't pay for it) and then this individual tried to extort Pitino for 10 million. She was tried and convicted of extortion and lying to federal agents and currently is facing 26 years in prison.
I'm not saying he is an angel but he isn't as bad as a lot of other people in sports.
I can see why it wasn't mentioned last night; you can make a case that it wasn't the time and place. But it is a little surprising that the scandal hasn't seemed to stick with Pitino in any lasting way. It's been years since I've seen it referenced in the media.
The most "loud mouth, disrespect" poster on 11W.
People make mistakes... everyone. Pitino actually seems like a decent dude to me... but it could've been Hitler coaching Louisville last night and I still would've pulled for them. That's how much I detest everything TTUN.
