PHONE'S RINGING -- IT'S URBAN ON THE LINE
Too bad they had to be "shamed" into doing it.
How many others were/ are aware of the goings on at Rutgers, cause you'll never get me to believe it was just the coach and just the A.D.............The bigger the scandal the more folks know about it
Battles are sometimes won by generals; wars are nearly always won by sergeants and privates. Football is no different, the guys down in the trenches win the games, not the coach.
didn't you mean to type "Rutgers Fries Rice"?

If I was on the Rutgers Board of Trustees, then I'm making a motion or applying pressure to the President to fire the AD next. It's a joke that these incidents had to go 'viral' (as stated in the article) before something was done.
“The teams that don’t respect their coaches and don’t trust their coaches are the teams that go .500"
I was listening to 97.1 today and a guy from Rutgers (I assume) said that the AD is close to bullet-proof right now because he elevated most of Rutgers sports in his time there and he helped get them into the B1G. They concluded that this is a black eye, but he seems to be owning it and they expect he will survive.

They need to fire Pernetti too. Absolutely insane that he knew about this abuse back in the summer of 2012 and didn't do anything until November. He was negligent in my opinion and should be fired too.
I'm not a conspiracy theorist or saying there were alternative motives behind the video finally coming out... but kind of convenient it happens the week of the Final Four when all the NCAA Head Coaches go to watch (All D1 Men's BBall Coaches get a free ticket to the Final Four) and the Coaching Clinic is happening this week. Rutgers can find themselves a new coach for when they begin life in the B1G. Just sayin'.
"...but then again 'Michigan' and 'huge mistake' are synonymous so that shouldn't have been much of a surprise to anybody." - Mark Titus
Mike Rice made a statement that was just aired on ESPN. He seemed pretty sincere to me. I'm sure that looking back at those videos and seeing the way he acted, he realizes he was out of hand and made an ass out of himself. Glad Rutgers stepped up (finally) and did what was needed to be done. Maybe Rice will get some counseling and get that temper under control.
I just don't get it. Rice had to go, no doubt, but not a good image for their athletic department. Especially coming aboard a new conference......
Real shame, too. They at least have an excellent women's coach in Vivian Stringer.
"Success - it's what you do with what you got" - Woody Hayes
He didn't sound too sincere when he was on Outside the Lines yesterday spouting off all that garbage. His ass should be gone too.To know about it since november, and only hand out a 3 game suspension is pretty friggin weak.don't care about all these classes or anger management that supposedly he had to go through.Anytime kids are put in a situation of abusive behavior,he should have been LONG GONE by now!! And the AD with him for letting it go .Murdoch looks awefully good now.Hope he nails Rutgers for wrongful termination.
hey Rutgers, don't you dare think about coming after Boalsy or DD...don't even think about it....
or you'll get one straight to the babymaker
I'm sick of this story. The media is ad nauseam with their coverage. But, I think the bigger deal now is that this assistant coach - Murdock - was trying to extort Rutgers for about a $1 million. The FBI is investigating this Murdock guy for extortion. That's worse than throwing a basketball at somebody while yelling a few harsh words.
I'm just happy to be here
