So he had five days to prepare for the Syracuse zone, and that's what he came up with? 50 points. Arguably the nation's best offense, Indiana was turrible.
I know that "players make plays", but it's like IU wasn't even being coached last night. They didn't drive into the heart of that zone enough. They didn't screen and run any man stuff against the zone, (which you can do against that zone). Indiana just stayed on the perimiter, bombed 3's, and relied on guys trying to go one-on-one or more. Terrible team effort, which reflects on the coaching staff. Lazy approach. You gotta make that zone defense move, and Indiana didn't. Syracuse was way too comfortable.
That was poor coaching by Crean last night. Crean is a good coach overall, but when it comes to the X's & O's --- he's lacking. I'm glad we have Thad, (who by the way knew what to do at this time last year against Syracuse). Crean didn't really accomplish anything significant, considering the next-level talent he had this season.
