I'm not a Bucknuts member, but their "Boarding House" section today has some comments by people who are going off on Crean. Not only for his obvious d-baggery yesterday, but apparently there is something going on with him threatening Craft for some reason. I don't know what he said to him, but interesting.
p.s. On the Crean/Meyer postgame antics, I don't know if Meyer said something to him first or what exactly happened. But, I find it interesting that Crean waits till that exact moment to confront him. He had like 5 + years to do that, but he does it there & then. Maybe he wanted the attention, (knew the cameras/mic's were on (?))

examples of what I'm referring to:
There was talk of an an exchange during the handshake line, which I didn't see, and then Crean went back to him for the face to face encounter.
Wow...I missed that. Pretty unprofessional. Craft just strikes me as a really relentless defender, I guess that can frustrate the opponent. Craft seems like a great young man, he's smart and respectful too. I'm surprised a head coach stooped to that level. This Crean guy needs to seek mental advice. I don't find him stable.
FYI: My comment was referring to the Crean-Meyer encounter yesterday, not Crean-Craft.
Oh ok...gotcha
Jesus. Hate to hear if this is true, opposing coaches is one thing, but opposing players?
What an A--hole. Take that crap back to the Big East, America 12, Catholic 7 or whatever. Have some respect.

Hahaha WOW is that one creepy GIF!
"You win with people." - Woody Hayes
Cannot stop watching this. I keep wondering about his next move.
His next move was to the concession stand which was also creepy and weird.
I have no words...
This GIF is not only hilarious but I about lost it when I saw JD Campbell on Cream's left in this. He's the one in the IU sweater and he coached my youth baseball teams growing up lol
Guess I shouldn't have posted the words "take that crap".
"Success - it's what you do with what you got" - Woody Hayes
I cannot stop watching this gif. Observation: the guy in the suit & tie at the scorer's table, to the right of Crean, looks exactly like an offspring of Bert Bielema. Or if Bielema and Robby Hummel had a kid - it'd look like that guy.
"You win with people." - Woody Hayes
Very creepy way to get into an opposing player's head.
"Get him a body bag, Yeah!"
Not trying to hate but need a source or proof otherwise its all speculaiton.
Nothing like dancing on the field in 02...
yeah, I'm not a Bucknuts member, just saw the comments on there
anybody else notice how Crean started laughing and smiling when he was walking away? kind of maniacal, or bipolar
Yes, KULB
"You win with people." - Woody Hayes
I think both maniacal and bipolar.
still not understanding..am i missing something on the Craft issue? Can we get a summary from someone who is in the know?
"Winter is coming" - Urban Meyer
I am on Bucknuts. Apparently Crean went to Craft after the game and told him not to disrespect him (Crean) or his program and threatened that he "has votes" in this conference and can make Craft regret it. He then confronted him once again after the hand shakes and reminded him not to disrespect him (Crean) or the program (IU).
Also, Crean confronted former IU assistant coach Jeff Meyer on Sunday. Meyer committed recruiting violations at IU under Sampson and Crean apparently wanted to let him know that he felt Meyer had "wrecked the program."
I don't know much about Crean, but the stories of late has me thinking the bipolar off his meds suggestion might have some merit. He does look crazy at times. Weird, Strange kind of crazy.
and creepy!
"Get him a body bag, Yeah!"
The funny thing is that Meyer was cleared by the NCAA of any wrongdoing.
Wow, what proof do you have that Meyer committed recruiting violations? He was not found guilty of anything. Don't care for him, but what blatant misinformation. And that was probably Crean's intention, to get ignorant people to spread a lie.
It's not my belief if that's what you're getting at, just stating what was in the article.
Why would anyone down vote you for this? Thanks for the info.
"I like to believe that my best hits border on felonious assault."
--Jack Tatum
Because it isn't true, that's why. You know who was the other assistant at IU under Sampson at the time? Dan Dakich of ESPN/BTN.
As stated above, I do not mean to imply that the allegations are true or that I believe Meyer committed any violations, I was paraphrasing the article and stating that Crean confronted Meyer for his alleged role in the wrongdoing. Sorry for the confusion. I'd edit if I could.
Honestly, I don't follow basketball a ton and my recent experiences do make it seem like Crean is a terrible douche. That said, he is one of the foremost authorities on the IU NCAA violation situation and knows all sorts of shit that the public doesn't. Plus he's done a truly amazing job of bringing that school back from the brink. If I were in his position, completely loved my program, and had spent the past few years cleaning up the prior regime's shit while slogging through terrible seasons, I'd probably find myself periodically "going after" the people who I thought had ruined the program before I took over too. Now, these rumors regarding Craft, if they are true, it's totally out of line.
wtf? how did craft disrespect him? The dude needs a dunce cap and a corner to console.
"Winter is coming" - Urban Meyer
thanks for the info. DMCD ... MAN ALIVE - How arrogant and petulant is this Crean guy?!
"You win with people." - Woody Hayes
This is awesome, actually. We have our new Bielema.
THIS!
I still don't understand. How did Craft disrespect Crean or IU?
Was it perhaps embarrassing them on senior night?
Indiana embarrassed Indiana on senior night, not once but twice!!!
Battles are sometimes won by generals; wars are nearly always won by sergeants and privates. Football is no different, the guys down in the trenches win the games, not the coach.
This is even funnier because Indiana cut down the nets after we beat them...the only person disrespecting the program is Crean. Hope Craft puts up 50 in the B1G tournament if we face Indiana.
I'd actually prefer Craft completely shutting down IU's guards, and then after a particularly "Crafty" sequence of diving around the floor, doing the Urban Meyer "stare and point" straight at Crean/the IU bench. Think Crean will still spout out at Craft after that?
"What we do in life echoes in eternity"
I'd pay to watch this happen. I'd pay a LOT!
Or something like this...
Awesome, KBonay.
incoming memes
Crean might be referring to when Craft made the entire IU team gargle his balls after hitting those two sweet bank shots to ice the game. I can totally understand why a grown man would go up to a 20 year old kid and yell at him after a loss. Crean's a real stand up guy, real professional.

Hilarious.

Wow. This wikipedia page on Crean is amazing.

Bummer, already edited out.
Haha, there is some great stuff on there:
Crean won't live long if the Craft fangirls ever hear about this.
"YOLO" = I'm about to do something extremely ignorant/stupid & I need an excuse to do it.
No kidding, the ladies do love them some Craft.
Make sure Sarah doesn't find out.
"YOLO" = I'm about to do something extremely ignorant/stupid & I need an excuse to do it.
You guys make it sound like there aren't any Craft fanboys out there who would help out.
By the time the boys get there Crean would be a bloody mess.
"YOLO" = I'm about to do something extremely ignorant/stupid & I need an excuse to do it.
not to badger anyone, but does anyone have the story?
"Winter is coming" - Urban Meyer
It's a non-story, just rumors of the kind of dumb stuff that happens in sports all the time. Crean's a jerk, that's pretty static whether these sensational stories exist or not.
I'll admit, I didn't get all the Crean hate....until now. Yes, we all saw the guy's intensity, but in this business, you have to be intense, without crossing a line.
Well, if this Craft stuff is true, and added to the incident up north, Crean is a D-bag with a capital "D". I've lost what little respect I've had for him.
I hope the Craft stuff isn't true, and there's something more to the incident in AA. The emotion Crean shared with Oladipo after the game shows a man who truly cares about his players and the game. Maybe he got caught up in the emotion - we have all done stupid things when emotional.
However, once again, if the stuff with Craft is true, he crossed the line and that's it, it's D-bag city.
I hated him the first time I looked at him. Just has a very, very, hateable face. Then I started learning more & more about him & I actually really started to truly despise him.
The world is full of kings & queens who'll blind your eyes & steal your dreams - it's heaven & hell - Ronnie James Dio.
IMO the "emotion" he shared with Oladipo after the game was fabricated. As evidenced by the Meyer exchange, he knows when the cameras are on him.
On a side note, when both of your brother in law's coach each other in the Super Bowl, you get desperate. He just needs a story to tell at the Thanksgiving table...
I have always disliked Crean, and part of it is due to what I've heard from people close to our program, as well as to things he has done. Needless to say, he likes his "star" players, but doesn't care for the rest.
Add recent events, and it's not hard to see why there are a lot of reasonable people who dislike the man. The reason why people are noticing it now is because his team is winning. The is not only a sore loser, but a bad winner as well, which is bringing out the worst in him. I would not be surprised if he did threaten Aaron.
This doesn't mean that he isn't putting IU back on the right tracks, or that he hasn't helped the community. It means that his behavior regarding his profession on and off the court is not what it should be.
In short, I would not want him as my coach, and I would not defend him.
Great post Ladybuck!
The world is full of kings & queens who'll blind your eyes & steal your dreams - it's heaven & hell - Ronnie James Dio.
Thanks for all the info - I didn't know most of this. He really is a classless jerk.
No problem. I advise you to look into these matters, too. This is all based off of my own observations and research. To be fair, he is apparently active in the community around Bloomington and does good/charitable things, but I still don't like the guy.
You forgot his blow-by handshakes whenever Indiana loses a game.
"YOLO" = I'm about to do something extremely ignorant/stupid & I need an excuse to do it.
That's a great post, LadyBuck
"You win with people." - Woody Hayes
I was actually pretty neutral on Crean considering what he did at Marquette and now Indy, plus the glowing comments from Dwayne Wade, but your post Ladybuck puts forth a good case for me to reconsider...nice job.

In all honesty, if I had the haircut Crean has I would be a huge D-Bag too
Pick up your feet, turn your corners square! And DRIVE DRIVE DRIVE!!!
Hey, I resent that!
"Get him a body bag, Yeah!"
Between Crean and Craft, who is the adult in this situation? I thought we moved past middle school games.
Tom Crean listens to Celtic Woman...and he likes it.
I hope the press starts seeing Creen for who he is. It will catch up with him eventually and start to hurt his recruiting.
I would also like to see Matta yell at Creen like he did rav the other day.
The shades of red and purple were amazing, but I think Thad handles things pretty well.
Matta's face after he realizes Crean is not going to pause or even break stride says everything about what other coaches must think of Crean.
Hahah Yeah Thad's face is great in this...
Kind of like "Yikes. This guy's a douche"
That was a crap move by Crean.. Matta played it out right..
Thad is the Man.
"We're talking a minimum eight-peat."
AHA! I think I know why Crean is being a D-bag. He must've just finished reading Bob Knight's new book: "Power of Negative Thinking"
This never gets old:
Thad was like "wow this guy really is as crazy as they say. It's just a game bro"
Thad is a funny guy
Hahaha
"You win with people." - Woody Hayes
Maybe there is something to the Crean / Craft thing, could explain why Craft was 2nd team on the Coaches and 1st team on the media.
ohioscott
Can't think of anything more insulting to say beyond that he's a Harbaugh
Apparently, Crean did say something to Craft after the game, but Craft won't say what.
From the Dispatch today:
Indiana coach Tom Crean showed some testiness with a Michigan assistant as they shook hands after a game on Sunday, but it wasn’t his first incident during the final week of the Big Ten season.
Crean also had some words for Ohio State guard Aaron Craft after the Buckeyes’ win in Bloomington on March 5. Craft won’t say what Crean said as they passed each other in line but did not deny it was something other than congratulations.
“Heat of the battle,” Craft said this week. “Nothing crazy. Obviously, he was upset and we were excited, but I just kind of brushed it off and moved on. I was just really kind of focused on getting back with (my teammates). I wanted to jump up and down with those guys.”
Craft said all he said to Crean as they passed was, “Good game, Coach. Good luck next week.”
With 27.6 seconds left and Ohio State’s Deshaun Thomas at the free throw line, Craft and Crean were about 10 feet apart on the court and facing each other, but it was unclear whether either was saying anything to the other. Craft said no, that he was trying to steal a call from Crean to his players on the floor.
“I do that every game ... especially late in the game. Try to figure out what they’re going to do,” he said.
Thanks for posting, ATX. It's nice to know our 20 year old point guard is a natural leader, with the wisdom to take the high road. Craft is more mature and has more class than this maniacal, petulant head coach. Crean is a small man, who foolishly lacks the self-discipline to not let his emotions get the best of him.

the more and more i think about it the more i want a Round 3 with Indiana
"Winter is coming" - Urban Meyer
Agreed, I am really looking forward to it. It is not too often that you get to watch a great basketball game and a circus sideshow at the same time. He is like a marauding elephant stomping up and down the sidelines.
Roll with it.
