He couldn't stop blowing his whistle (often five seconds late) during the second half then swallowed it the last minute. He is horrid.

As long as none of those non-calls didn't result in a turnover, the good news was the clock kept right on ticking away. My biggest issue with Valentine as an official is his ego and while he is an accomplished official, you have to be at your best nightly. He wasn't tonight. Go Bucks!

The no calls at the end and the no call turned into a travel. The usual dose of questionable charge/block calls and another ref that called a held ball when Craft clearly had control of the rebound.

The charge call is a hot dog ref's call, too. It's the most overcalled violation in basketball.

He smacked Shannon Scott or Lenzelle Smith too when he did the reach around steal attempt and knocked it away and he called a foul...which may or may not have been...so the TV timeout started and as our player ran by he slapped his ass in a way that would have pissed me the hell off if I was playing.

The crew tonight was definitely awful. Worst BB officiating I have seen in a couple of years. A couple of bad no-calls, but several terrible WRONG calls. The game of basketball deserves better.

We were 5 against 8 in that second half.
That charge on Q. Ross with about 8:00 to go was turrible. Then the foul on Craft the ensuing possession was bad. But, the worst was the jump ball call, where Craft clearly had the rebound and then was fouled. That was hideous.
it was bad but not nearly as bad as i thought it was going to be lol....i honestly can say i have been more upset with how terrible mike kitts has been officiating this year.....he is blind as a bat and makes calls based on what he thinks is going to happen and not what he sees......valentine just makes very controversial calls all the time and does it very emphatically........but both should be fired or retire
Wish he would just move on to NBA so we wouldn't have to see him any more. He has been horrible for multiple decades.

What annoyed me was how he would make a call 5 seconds after the play happened.
If you think it's a foul, call it. Obviously all of the other officials didn't think so.
I tweeted this last night, but being the top official in the Big Ten is like being the head coach of the worst team in college basketball. You still suck.
That being said, considering the bad officiating, it really speaks volumes of how much Indiana DIDN'T want to win the game and how poorly they took advantage of opportunities. They just flat-out didn't show up to play at home, and you can't do that in the B1G.

I was complaining about the officiating in the 2nd half as well. Completely inconsistent and at one point IU had 3 fouls and we had 9. However, this actually cam back to nip them in the butt. I think we possessed the ball for at least 1 minute, maybe more while IU kept trying to foul us, which wouldn't send us to the foul line, but would reset the shot clock and let us kill another 10-15 seconds. Plus, with the way we shot FTs at the end, maybe we were better off just getting the ball. What a freaking win. I don't care who they play next, I am cheering for IU to lose.

Perhaps I should have used sarcastic font and bolded the point that I'm NOT cheering FOR the team they play, but rather and cheering for IU to lose. DERP.
On the reach around steal called foul, it was Sam Thompson. They were smiling at each other because Sam knew he had a easy highlight dunk on the other end if the play continued. Ted definitely lets everyone know he's there but as long as he's consistently an ass for the whole game to both teams, I don't have a problem with it
thank god i wasn't just drunk. That call on zeller?!? where he missed the shot..the ball came down...then he fell..then he started to get back up....THEN AND ONLY THEN WHEN NO ONE ELSE HAD CALLED IT HE BLEW HIS FUCKING WHISTLE? whew i thought i was going crazy last night after a couple of microbrews.

The late call on Lenzelle Smith that is traveled was brutal. Zeller push smith out of bounds. Clearly a foul...but ole teddy called it a travel

Not only was it bad officiating but the announcing was awful as well. Dakich at one point complained about the jump ball call with Craft and complained about a couple other bad calls, then the next moment tries to stick up for the officiating and called all of us out!

It was so obvious that Indy got any call the refs could give them, but thank god our boys didn't give them the option. If you really think about, this was one hell of a game by Thad and crew. At Indy, against a really good team and everyone basically against you. It was definitely the best game they have played yet.

As much as I hate Ted Valentine and want the Big Ten/NCAA to remove him as a ref, if I'm an underdog playing on the road, I want Ted Valentine, Ed Hightower, or Mike Kitts. Why? They're the great equalizer and have no home crowd fear. They immediately equalize talent and coaching disparities.
Look at it this way, we won in spite of his incompetent ass.

He's very inconsistent with his calls too. He'll call a push off on one side and let it go five minutes later.
Let's be fair here though...... yes, it seemed that most of the non/bad calls went against OSU, and I'd agree they did, but Indiana had a gripe a couple of times too. Zeller got mugged by Amir when he spun baseline late in the game, missed the bunny, and we grabbed the board. And then, Craft got away with a travel after he was weaving through all those defenders right before he passed it to the corner.
In other words, the officiating was putrid.
