After Michigan survived @Purdue the other night, my buddy asked me:
"If Michigan would have lost tonight, would you be rooting for Michigan to win on Sunday?"
-If Michigan had lost, they would've been eliminated from B1G championship contention making for quite a conundrum:
-If they beat IU, Michigan's rivals MSU and OSU share the title with IU
-If IU beats Michigan, IU is the outright winner
-If Michigan had lost, they would be playing for a couple consolation prizes:
-Undefeated season at home (only team in the B1G to do so)
-Help their seeding potential in the tourneys
-Season split with perhaps the best team in the country
If the tables were turned and Michigan had played IU Tuesday and won, keeping the hopes of a co-championship alive for OSU and OSU played Illinois on Wed and lost, would you still root for Ohio State to win Sunday vs IU if it meant that Michigan and MSU would get a share of the title and OSU would get nothing? Would you rather OSU lose and IU get the outright title? Could you root against your own team to eliminate bragging rights from your rival fan base?
