CBS interviewed the head of the committee at halftime. He said that as of now they have one lock for a #1 with 5-6 teams fighting for the other 3. Is there a chance TOSU sneaks in and snags one? With their RPI, SOS and the B1G being dominant this year, I still think we have a shot. What say you?

I don't get the love for IU. They're 26-6. If we win today, we'll be 26-7, basically the same. We split the season series. They are 3-3 in their last 6 and we would be on an 8 game winning streak. IU is living off of their pre season hype right now.
That last sentence is a big stretch. You are underselling the B1G if you think the regular season champ is living off the preseason hype. Indiana is a #1, the question is whether we are more deserving than Duke or Kansas since Gonzaga and Louisville are also likely locks.
I was wondering this myself yesterday as I was watching Indiana struggle against Bucky. Beating Kansas and/or Duke would have helped the cause significantly, but I can't help but wonder if there isn't at least a slight chance, given the strong finish, tOSU doesn't snag a 1 seed.
The question, too, is who is the "lock?" Gonzaga?
I believe if we win today against Wisconsin we are a 2. I just can't see us becoming a 1 seed.
This. In all honesty, they probably already know where we're going.
I agree a #1 is a long shot but like redstorm said" is IU really better and deserving"? I dont think so.
Could you imagine if our game against Marquette didn't get canceled? Would have been 10 games against opponents in the latest top 10 rankings. As it is, we went 4-5 against IU, Duke, Kansas, MSU, and scUM.
How about this little tidbit, they have beaten 5 of the 7 teams they lost to. The only 2 unavenged losses were to Duke and Kansas. Not bad losses by any means.
but, if OSU beats Wisky today, they will be .500 against teams they lost to. Thanks to the extra win yesterday and a win today they will be 7-7 against all the teams they lost to. Which also all are going to the NCAA championship and all have been in the top 25 at one point throughout the year.
The record doesn't really have many flaws at all and it includes finishing 2nd in the regular season of the toughest conference in the nation and will also include the tournament championship of the toughest conference in the nation.
I believe we are a solid 2 seed just don't see us getting a 1 seed although I do believe we are more deserving than Indiana is of a 1 seed. But hey I've been wrong before
No, but I'm not sure why.
Right now I would think that Gonzaga and Louisville are locks. Kansas is pretty close to a lock after winning their tourney. OSU obviously has to win, but it still might be hard to jump over IU, who is next in line right now I would think.
Was thinking about this a lot yesterday. I think Gonzaga was the earliest #1 lock followed by Kansas and Louisville another they wrapped up their conference tournies. In a year where there has been so much change at the tip of the polls, I think the performance in the conference tournies and down the stretch are really going to factor in big time. I think the final #1 comes down to IU and us. If we lose, IU takes it and were a 2. But IF we win, I think we take it. We will be one game behind in overall record which is a wash (especially when you consider we had a game canceled), we finished 1 game back I the regular season standings and we (IF we win) would have won the conference tourney. We would have won 8 in a row (AGAIN IF WE WIN TODAY). All loses against tourney teams w 7 of 8 losses against top 25 teams. Good amount of quality wins against top 10 (MSU, MSU, UM, IU) w a couple on the road. I think IU has a much similar overall body of work but I think the committee could give is the last #1 over them due to recent play and the IF we win the conference tourney. The real question is would we rather just be the 2 seed in an easier West bracket w Gonzaga and playing our first round games in Dayton?
I don't think Ohio State will get it, I think if IU doesn't get it they'll find a way to give it to Duke still. We'll see I guess, I just don't see them giving the Buckeyes a 1 seed. Louisville clinched the number 1 overall I'd say though. I'd love to to see the Buckeyes in the Midwest region too. Tickets for the sweet 16/Elite 8 round are still available and 90 bucks for the whole session.
They have no chance for a #1 seed, but they are playing well enough to be considered one of the top 4...just to many teams to jump. They will be the 2nd, 3rd or 4th #2 seed.

I think that if we take care of business today we will make a strong case for a number one seed. With a win today OSU will be the hottest team in NCAA and we play in the hardest conference. That is enough for me to give them the 1 seed? I think we will get a 2 seed and play close to C-bus and honestly that might be better option than being 1 seed playing out west.
I'd rather just take the 2 seed. The 1 seed has all the pressure on them. We all know what type of team this is. We know how they've been playing lately. These guys don't need a 1 seed to validate the year they've had. Continue to play the disrespect card and go out and prove it on the court.
"What we do in life echoes in eternity"
Unfortunately a lot had to happen for a 1 seed to be possible and I don't think it fell the right way for them. Kansas won their tourney, Miami is looking like they are as well. Louisville won theirs and they deserve a 1 seed as well. Just too many teams in front of them that have completed their goals.
I think it is a 2 seed no matter what happens today. I will gladly take it too because they aren't the type of team that gets upset easily. They beat the teams they are supposed to and struggle against teams that are really good also. (although not so much lately)
There is a 0% chance IU doesn't get a 1 seed, in my opinion. They would have been #1 overall had they beat Wisconsin, even if they lost to us in the final. And Louisville, Gonzaga and Kansas are likely the other 3 (locked up). If Michigan had made that layup last week we could've snuck up ahead of IU but they can't deny the outright B1G champ a #1 seed. Particularly the best offensive efficiency team in the country that passes the eye test with flying colors.
And yes, we are playing for where we play (at most) rather than changing seeds. We locked up a 2 seed yesterday. Wisconsin is playing for a potential 3 seed and we are trying to get the Indianapolis region maybe as a 2 seed (unless we win or lose by 30 points in which case there could be some last second shuffling).
I don't think OSU get's a #1
The committee usually doesn't take into account the B1G Championship. Unless a team they have out wins it and it will affect bubble teams. I think we are a pretty solid lock for a #2.
I would be really REALLY surprised if we got a #1. Pleasantly surprised... but surprised none the less.
