Overseas soccer clubs have been doing this for years. I remember first noticing it when I was a Freshman on North Campus (2005). When it's done correctly, it's really nice. It's only a TV thing though, they look quite goofy in person.
Found an example from the Stadio Giuseppe Meazza in Milan, where Inter and AC Milan play.The signage is slanted by the goal to create that forced perspective when viewed on TV.
