Many of us Buckeyes are wondering if Amir Williams can officially be called a bust. I don't believe so -- I have 2 reasons. The most obvious is that he still has 2 years left. Yes, that's half of his career gone, and yes, he most likely will not turn into anything that most of us envisioned him to become. My next point is that his current year and Jeff Withey's sophomore year are very comparable. Yes, the Jeff Withey that swatted anything that got near him in the Final Four against us last year.
Jeff Withey: 2.3 pts, 1.8 rebs, .2 stls, .2 asts, .8 blk, and 6 minutes. Amir: 3.7 pts, 3.9 rebs, .1 asts, .3 stls, 1.3 blks, and 17 minutes a game.
Yes, Amir does get a lot more minutes than Withey did his sophomore year, but still, you get the idea. Maybe Amir is a super late-bloomer. Or maybe Trey McDonald can come out of nowhere. Amir does lack the fire and intensity that the rest of the Buckeyes have, and he needs to get more into the game. At times he looks like he doesn't even want to play. If Amir can pull some intensity out of his ass, then maybe it could be the start of a new Amir. The staff hasn't given up on him yet, as they are continuing to start him every game. There aren't many other options, but it still means something. You might not agree with me, but I think we would all hope that I'm onto something.
