Miami The Best Team in The Country?

Colin Cowherd just claimed on his show that the Miami Hurricanes is the best basketball team in the country this season and that their players would smirk at Indiana. Normally I agree with the majority of his opinions about various topics. However, I can't follow this one. I get that Miami smothered Duke and beat a downed UNC, but those 2 losses to Florida Golf and an embarrassing loss to a horrid Indiana State team rubs me the wrong way. Personally, I think Indiana has a great shot at making the final dance and I truly can't see how Miami would be able to hang with them for the full 40. The ACC, IMO, only has 1 good team in Duke and 2 decent teams in Miami and NC State. Indiana clearly has more dominant wins against ranked opponents (even pummeled UNC) and still are one of the highest scoring teams in the toughest basketball conference... What are your opinions? Do you think Miami is the best team in the country?

I agree that IU is a more complete and deeper team than Miami.  The only thing I'll say in quasi-defense of Miami is that their star player was out early in the season. I know that was a huge factor in their loss to FL Gulf Coast. I don't remember the Indiana St. game.

Man....My Mason Patriots sure do miss Big ol' Jimmy L and his whistle :-\. Miami got real lucky with that coach pick up.

I don't think Miami is up there, but the ACC is not even close to being as bad as you say.  Remember, there was a challenge earlier this year....

Besides Miami beating Michigan State, what game did they win to really prove themselves as a dominant conference over the Big 10 this year? Ohio State isn't what we thought they would be and they barely lost at Duke while we had one of the worst shooting percentages in the past couple seasons. Heck, they're what fourth in conference against the ACC's best? Where did you read that I claimed Miami was a bad team?

I didn't say you said Miami was a bad team.  Actually I agreed and said Miami probably is good, but not great.  I was referring to your comments about the ACC above.

I'm actually pretty impressed by Miami.

Indiana State is not terrible at all, and that was a loss in OT in Hawaii.  At this point they look like an NCAA at-large team.  Florida Gulf Coast is probably going to win their conference, and had the U at home.  The other loss was to Arizona, who was on a roll at the time.  Each of those losses came without either Durand Scott or Reggie Johnson.  Miami started a bit slow, but they've adjusted and have bought into Larranaga's philosophy.

Miami pummeled UNC, destroyed Duke, beat NC State on the road, and beat MSU.

IU is good and played extremely well on the road at OSU, but otherwise has not been very impressive away from Bloomington.  I think we'll know more about these two after IU faces Michigan and MSU on the road, and Miami has to play in Cameron.

Have not seen Miami play but their resume is strong.

Watched IU kick the sh*t out of us, and they are the real deal

MSU was early and it could be argued that they are vastly improved now.  NC State was without their point guard in that game so we need to remember that.  Also, Miami shouldn't have won that game if the refs would have seen how the guy was able to tip in the rebound - it was a blatant, two hands on the back push off.  Only a foul if the refs call it though.    I'm not saying Miami is a bad team, I'm just saying that I don't think they are a top 5 team in the nation, but I've been wrong before.  The parity this year is incredibly exciting, hoping for an unbelievable March Madness.

I heard Cowherd's statement and even though I usually disagree with him, he made some good points.

Tune in in March to find out if he's right.

People still listen to Cowherd?

College basketball is wide open this year. I hate when the term "elite" is thrown around because it seems like there aren't many of those, if any, this year. Miami is a very good team. They will more than likely win the ACC. And yes the ACC is not that great, but a team can't control how good or bad their conference is. Their early season losses were just that, early season losses. Teams should show improvement over a season, and it's safe to say Miami has done this. Are they better than IU? I don't know. I've seen games where IU left me unimpressed. Will Miami win the national title? I doubt it. But anything's possible.

No, I don't think Miami is the best team in the country.  But, having watched them play a couple of times, I'm quite impressed with what I see.  They have a lot of seniors/experienced players in their lineup, who have probably played together for a while.  I can't even fathom them losing to Indiana State and Florida Gulf Coast after seeing how they trashed Dook and UNC.  They're still undefeated in ACC play, right?  That's no small accomplishment, even with UNC and maybe the conference being down this year.  Plus, they did beat Sparty.  Did you see what Sparty did to the skunkweasels last night?  They're nothing at all to snort at.  For the first time in...well...ever, I would not want to see OSU have to face Miami.  Miami may not be the best team, but you can definitely argue that they are the hottest team.

Cowturd is a smug jackass who goes out of his way to rile up midwestern fan bases; not a fan of his once he jumped off the tOSU bandwagon and called us all cankle lovers (and Ohio women fat). The best thing for me, sports radio wise is that the local guy retired and new blood stepped in, and another station started up.

No matter how sh*tty the tour is, it's always tough to leave.
