The new lineup for the next game should be. G Scott. G Della Velle. C McDonald. F Ross. F Thomas. Let's see if Matta has the guts to make these changes I doubt it!
[Ed - Please put some effort into your forum titles (the previous title was "Lineup"). When you do that, 11W is a better place.]

That would be defensive suicide. I hope we're playing Little Sisters of the Poor with that lineup.
why don't they just< not> have thad there either.
they played like shit. and wisconsin played the best they played all year, that coupled - got us a good ole fashioned ass whoopin.
bucks gotta write this off. were not top 10 material,or 15,not now,but from here on out these young men need to play for some pride. and hopefully this was a nice wake-up call.
knucklehead
I think at this point you need to shave some points off Thomas and Craft to save their legs some for March. Nothing drastic but a few-5 mintues and let some of the other players garner somemore time, see what they are capable off and get them possibly ready for a run in March..
Boo. How about the starters just start playing like starters.
There you go. And, if they are not willing.... SIT them like benchwarmers.
This was the lineup for 5-6 minutes late in the game on Sunday....so, yeah...
Scott? He has been terrible.
So has craft
it's sad bc for small 3,4, or 5 minutes sections this teams plays really well and then they miss a couple shots and go into hiding mode and start turning the ball over.......when they have had teams on the rope i.e. up by 15 or more points they have never been able to put the nail in the coffin and hold leads.....they play "tressel ball" in basketball and try and sit on the lead and kick field goals until the clock runs out.....personally the way we have been playing I wish we would run the princeton offense with this team bc of the lack of dribble penetration we have most of the time......with this team sadly to say it's deshaun and everyone else kinda like wisconsin with jordan taylor and everybody else.....so why not play like they did to maximize the team?
Why not just start rotating guys more and play full court, man-to-man defense?
Craft and/or Scott harassing the opposing PG, with Smith, Thompson, Ross, etc. and their long arms/athleticism going for steals would be a nightmare for opponents. Get some steals, get out and run in transition, and you begin to pick up some easy buckets. Williams even becomes more of a strength because he can play the last line of defense and just protect the basket.
It is no coincidence this team has lost to every good team they've faced (except for Michigan and Wisconsin). They end up in a halfcourt game and are so limited offensively that they end up taking bad, contested shots, or they play right into the opposition's hands and end up with someone taking an outside shot that shouldn't be.
Without the incredibly fast start against UM (which happened because of forcing turnovers, getting out on the break and scoring in transition) they would not have won that game. The win over Wisconsin was largely dependent on the fact that Bucky was content to fire away from 3-point range, while largely not making them, and not attacking the basket.
"What we do in life echoes in eternity"
It reminds me a bit of those Louisville Pitino teams with no real star that just full courted the hell out of everyone to make up for their lack of basketball talent.
Good call, except there were 10 of those Louisville 'no names' and each were bigger, faster and more athletic than any one on our roster not named S Thompson
I'm sorry, but Craft & Smith have been exposed to what they really are, MAC caliber players. Yeah I know, both are great on defense and that's about it, but in every other skill area they are below average especially for a starting backcourt for a top ten program.
Craft is much better than a MAC caliber PG. Craft is a top tier PG in every single category except for his jump shot, but then again, Mike Conley Jr. was shooting 19% from 3 at this point during his one season here.
Note: not saying Craft is as good as Conley, we may never see someone so good at getting into the lane and with such great vision ever again at OSU. All I'm saying is people are judging Craft purely on his inability to hit an open jumper.

I love Aaron Craft and he has done GREAT things for us (last year's loss versus KU was his masterpiece), but how can we say he is great or even good right now?
I can confidently say Craft is a good point guard. You guys are criticizing his play purely on his inability to score when in fact that is one of, if not the only, category he has struggled in

He can not be considered a GOOD point guard if he can't hit EASY OPEN jump shots. I am not even talking about 3 pointers because that is just not going to happen. I am talking about 12 foot jumpers when he is wide open. If he could be consistent at that, we would be a much different team. He is not an offensive threat. Whoever guards him, dares him to shoot. The other team wants him to shoot. He has not developed at all on offense. And, I can not say he is a good point guard because of that. But, I love to watch him play defense.
Craft is hitting 40% from the field this year. Not exactly as bad as you make him out to be. He's hitting 81% from the foul line. His A/T ratio is 2.5 (anything over 2 is considered good). He is averaging 4 rebounds and 2 steals a game. Go find me a Mac level PG who can put up stats like that in the best conference in the country.
Conclusion: Aaron Craft is a GOOD not great PG. an offensive game would elevate him to great

soooooo this is a dumb post.
Craft;Love the kids Defense one of the best i've seen on ball ever, and he plays hard..This year his decision making, scoring, leadership have slipped to below average..Now I know some will have problems with this but the areas i think he slipped in are a direct result of coaching.
Putting Craft in position to be the second option was as misguided as asking Eric Snow to be a teams second option. Also i feel it put pressure on Craft to do to much.
Coming into the year knowing the team lacked in areas of inside scoring (completely horrible), and questionable outside shooting, the coaching staff should have researched other ways to become more efficient on the offense side of the court..Basically come up with more than iso/one on one offense.
It's much easier to coach with the Sully's, Deblier's, Turner's, Lighty's (RIP his mom), conley's and oden's of the world. When you don't have that talent and have to coach up players, what's the back up plan to put your team in a position to win games or at least show effort (1-7 against ranked teams is not good no matter how you want to spin it losing close or not)
Random thought who is the strength coach for this squad, this is one of the weakest teams i've seen in a while...Just my Thoughts, As always Go Bucks....
Personally, I would like to see Q come off some ball screens. All opposing defenses do is go under every ball screen set for Craft and Scott. Maybe Q could actually force opposing defenses to go over the top of screens or have someone help off of either DT or Amir.
Get your point, but Q is the only 2013 Buckeye who doesn't need screens to get his shots. He likes carrying his defender into the lane, and then creating space when he wants to pop, or if they leave their feet, he does that under move
Wow, talk about an overreaction. Ever heard of a team just not playing well? It happens through the course of a 30+ game season. Implementing a radical lineup after the worst game of the year is a bit excessive. Step off the ledge brother.
Hey, why not! I still say this season is a throw away IMO. I really like the potential of the team I just don't think they are going to be much of a factor beyond the second round at the most. This is a great year to see what he has for next year when they should be looking to get back on track. I really think another year of seasoning will change this team and adding Kameron Williams scoring ability with Marc Loving most likely replacing Thomas at PF (if he continues to fill out like he is).
I also wouldn't mind a quick look at going big too. Put Ravenel and Amir at PF and C and put Thomas at the 3 will Ross at the 2. Scoring and Size might help the situation.
Going big is great theoretically and trying Ross at 2 is ok with me.
This roster can't support going big at 4 and 5 though -- A Williams can't score in an empty gym
too bad matta doesn't read these posts. we'd probably be like, undefeated, with all these gems
Maybe so @740, i mean it cant hurt with a 1-7 record against ranked teams this year (i wont even get to his o-state career record against ranked squads) I just want the team to win and give the best effort they can, if your cool with them getting their doors blown off then that's you. I and guys I grew up playing with/against don't roll like that. Sports are not brain surgery, smh at the misguided fans that think only the coaches they see on TV KNOW sports or that valid questions or complaints on the teams play are off limits....
What if our lineup becomes something like:
Craft would be starting PG no matter what with Scott replacing him when Craft needs a break. Scott is starter, with ADV and Ross in when Scott moves to PG. Now here is where it becomes different. If we want to play a smaller lineup (as far as general size), you go Ross, Thomas, Amir/Ravenel with McDonald replacing Thomas when needed. The other option is to do a sort of "Twin Towers" lineup with Thomas at 3, Ravenel/McDonald at 4, and Amir/Ravenel at 5. Could open the floor up at bit so that when Thomas gets the ball he would have a bit more room to operate and some other options for passing if he gets trapped.

I've been iffy about this team all yr... but really a 5 pt loss to Duke, 2 pt loss to Tsun and 3 pt loss too MSU... all games we could have won making our record 23-4... this team isnt that bad. However, I can see an early exit or a run at the elite 8 if DT plays like he did in last years tourney.. also depends on the matchups of course.
You can pry throw the 8 pt loss to KU in there as well as a game we could've won.. for all the flaws and frustrations we've experienced with.this yrs team.. they're pretty close to being a top 5 team had a few plays gone differently.
EXACTLY
Best time to bench starters and start guys who barely see the floor is definitely after consecutive wins over ranked teams including beating the number 4 team in the country...
