I don't want to buy into the ESPN hates the B1G conspiracy, but...

This article http://espn.go.com/mens-college-basketball/story/_/id/8825875/big-ten-basketball-historic-year was really strange. The B1G has been very good for a few years now, was the elite conference last season, and this season. But the article is littered with comments such as:

The new B.I.G. 10: The NCAA basketball version of the football in the SEC.

(Minus the seven straight national championships, of course.)

Don't doubt but this is not the Big Ten we've been used to seeing of late. This is now the place where the players play every day all day.

What do you mean this isn't the Big Ten we've been seeing of late? What have you been watching? The overall tone was just that B1G basketball dominance is new and unexpected. I get the B1G football comments, and I agree with a lot of them. But this is rather condescending and rude to what has been a very good basketball conference.

Better than last year:

Michigan (4)
Indiana (4)
Minnesota
Illinois

Not as good as last year:

MSU (1)
OSU (2)
Wisconsin (4)
Northwestern

No real change:
Iowa
Nebraska
PSU
Purdue (10)

The numbers next to the teams are their NCAA tourney seeds.  I think the B1G may have 6 teams in the tournament, down from 8 last year.  This year, it seems that there is the top 6 and then the bottom 6, who aren't as solid as year's past.

Those who stay will be CHAMPIONS!

Does this mean E!SPiN will bash SEC basketball like they do BigTen football? No? I didn't think so.

"YOLO" = I'm about to do something extremely ignorant/stupid & I need an excuse to do it.

The B1G has been down but what they fail to realize is that B1G went to three title games with three different teams and several teams have been to final fours since MSU last won it all. The B1G is like no other conference seeing how the power is not within one or two teams. No other conference can boast about being as deep as the B1G is. Given Indiana is the blue chip of conference, the conference is loaded all around and its time for someone to win it all.

Sidenote, who calls the B1G "The Ten"? Not sure if they are trying to bash the bottom feeders or if its just a bad pun.

Ohio State's band SLAUGHTERED Michigan's band. If this were a football game, it would have been Florida State vs. Savannah State. - SB Nation following OSU vs. UM 2012

Won't matter if the B1G doesn't win a national title. Last one was MSU is 2000. Plenty of good teams since then, but no one really has been on par with UConn, UNC, Duke, Kentucky, and Florida (for only those 2 years).

This year, both Michigan and Indiana have a decent chance, but I will be damned if I want to see THAT happen.
