PHONE'S RINGING -- IT'S URBAN ON THE LINE
Jim Jackson ranks Ohio State 4th in the B1G!
He has IU at 1, MSU 2, and Michigan 3. Minnesota at 5.
I think he's nuts. What do you think?
I dunno but I'll tell you at the end of the season.
maybe he's trying some kind of weird motivational tactic haha
Hmm, well we beat two of the teams ranked ahead of us so far, so yes, I think he's nuts at this point!

This is in regards to hoops Alhan.
I'll let you know after we finish beating all three of his top three.
I think that is too high for MSU and I believe OSU is in the top three. The Bucks have great talent and one sensational leader in Craft. According to how well they respond to playing as an unselfish team will dictate where they will land in the top three.
Remember to get your wolverine spade or neutered. TBDBITL
I don't think he is all that far off. IU is ranked #1 pretty much across the board, UM is a top 5 team across the board and a lot of people forget, despite talent or not Izzo always has his team up there.
I think he is wrong, but I wouldn't say he is nuts.
I saw a UFO once.......it told me to have a goodyear!
Haha, erm, I'm dumb. Thanks for the assist Maestro!
I reserve judgment until after I've seen Williams, Ross, and Thompson play.
Jackson is taking the Herbstreit approach - pick other teams ahead of OSU so he doesn't get verbally attacked as being an OSU homer by those rival fanbases on the B1G Network.
It is just way too obvious.
Herbstreit lost all his ceredibility by picking against the Buckeyes when Tressell dominated the B1G for ten straight years. Jimmy Jackson runs the same risk even thought the basketball competition is more stiff.
As a TV media guy, you have to tell it like it is regardless of where you went/played for in college.
Unfortuantely not as many OSU fans even care about basketball so I would think Jackson is safe. Besides, it's presesason and we really don't know how OSU's hoops team will play.
FYI: Did you guys know Jackson's son plays for Bo Ryan @ Wisky?
The coaches are concerned about this team, following a terrible effort vs. Walsh and a sub-par effort vs. Miami (the scrimmage that isn't public). The defensive efficiency rating (DER) for tOSU against Walsh was .97, which is ridiculous (Walsh's worst opponent DER last year was .67). The team practiced last Thursday twice, Friday for four hours, and Sunday for another 3 1/2. I think OSU has a ton of potential, but Q needs to improve defensively and Amir needs to bring a better effort. Thompson and Scott have much improved jump shots this year, and Trey has exceeded my expectations this year as well. I wouldn't rank OSU 4th in the Big10, but can understand the logic. They need a second option on offense, and they need young guys to contribute significant minutes. I trust Matta (and the rest of the staff), but they have a lot of work to do.
I did know that, played against him in high school and actually saw Bo Ryan at our game against them. Conincidentally, that was the final game of the season and we upset Westerville South and ruined their perfect season. But Trevon is a solid basketball player, he might see some minutes this year but I don't anticipate him making much of an impact for another year or two.
Sorry Urban, Woody is still my favorite
Did you watch the exhibition game?
I could see this team winning the Big Ten or finishing 5th. Let's wait until they play Marquette before we start to blast people for their predictions. Why is it so hard to think that MAYBE they won't live up to expectations when there are so many holes to fill on the team?
Big 10 is talented and deep this year... top 5 teams in the Big 10 this year, even maybe dropping to top 7, could be serious sweet-16 or beyond type of teams... I think OSU finishes somewhere in the top 3, but a top 4 finish will still warrant them a high NCAA seed, which at the end of the day is all the matters.
VHXY - I completely agree with you about us being able to either win the B1G or finish 5th. This could be a team that is dominant one game but sloppy and inconistent the next. It should be an interesting year.
The Marquette game will be a gauge for us against better competition, but I am not sure how good Marquette will be this year. They lost their top 2 players from last year and I have no idea what they have for this year.
They're going to be your typical undersized, guard-oriented Marquette team again this year. They do have Chris Otule down low who's 6-11, so that will be a duel to watch with Amir. Other than him, their tallest player is 6-7. They have very similar questions as us this year, having to have role-players step up to lead the team, because they didn't pull in anyone huge in their recruiting class. We do have one thing that they don't have though: Deshaun Thomas.
If I had to take a guess, I'd say Marquette is probably an 8 or 9 seed in the NCAA tournament.
They could easily be 3rd best and I dont' know even the MSU may not come in with huge expectations, but aren't those the years Izzo seems to shock the world the most? I'd probably put them 3rd as a preseason pick. We are hoping LaQuinton Ross has a break out year, and that Craft will score more, and that Amir ends up being a really good player down low, but the season really rides on how many of and to what degree the IF's pan out.
