I live down in Charleston and wanted to see if anyone had heard of anything going on for the Carrier Classic in terms of tail gates etc. I assumed that there would be something going at Patriots Point outside of the game but I havent seen or heard of anything.

My wife works at the Navy clinic in Goose Creek... she checked today and "they" told her tickets will not be avaliable until like two days before... bummer...
I believe most tickets are for military only only a handful of general tickets will be given out
Public Tickets sales were opened up about a month ago and are still available: http://carrierclassic.net/
The site of the game, Patriots Point, is basically a museum, so I'm not expecting the traditional sporting event tailgating in the lot. On the other hand, from my experiences in Charleston, social drinking is really not off limits anywhere or anytime for that matter.
My thinking was with all the ohio state fans down here someone might have organized something at patriots points. Since living down here I have been to a few concerts and other events that were put on in the fields behind the carrier and was hoping that something might be organized there.
Not sure if folks heard about it yet or not, but Mayo (SG) for Marquette is academically ineligible. He would certainly be in their rotation, and was one of their best 6 or 7 guys.
I posted a question to the Carrier Classic Facebook page and here is the response that I got from someone:
"I found out that about 250 tickets will be given the Joint Base Charleston public affairs office, and then sent out to all the different comanders and OICs. So each unit will get about 6-8 tickets. based upon that info, I just decided to purchase mine for $300 from the yorktown association. The post and currier put info on there website about getting discounted tickets yesterday."
So, with the information that was published about a majority of the tickets going to Active Duty Military, they must have given those away outside of the area because they surely didn't do it locally.

I'm going to be at my parents house in Cincy this weekend and won't be able to watch the game. My folks won't pay for TV, and they don't have wifi. Does anyone know how I can watch the game on my iphone? Thanks.
@ Doc -- it's on NBC, so if it's anything like the Olympics, no chance of watching it live on your mobile device -- I do not know that definitively though. I must say I admire your parents thriftiness -- I have heard of not getting cable, satellite, etc., but no TV AT ALL? That's impressive.
Spoke to Public Affairs here at the base...the guy I spoke to wasnt sure if they were getting tickets or not, but if they do, they will be distributed among the diff Squadrons.
McLovin, they have tv. They don't have cable or satellite. NBC is airing it? I thought it was on NBCSN hence the reason for my post. I'll have to watch it on a tube tv from 1987, but at least I'll get to "see" the game.
FYI: It's actually on the NBC Sports Network (was previously Versus), and not regular NBC.
USAFBuckeye82,
I guess that I'll have to go and kiss up to my commander then. Thanks
Kyle will be there covering it for 11W
^ 11W Doing big things.
I know there's a game saturday, and my ass will be there.
Tried to get some tickets from the Naval Weapons Station's ITT department... was told they had none and were probably not getting any... a little disappointing... I was really looking forward to it
After some persistent questioning of my Chain of Command, I was finally able to procure a "Golden Ticket" yesterday. 250 were given to JB Charleston and then divided among the units. My squadron ended up 4 and were told that they were for the Enlisted. I relentlessly put in a good word to my First Sergeant (pestered the shit out of him) for the 1st Lieutenant in my squadron who is an Alumni and prior photographer with the Lantern and was able to procure one for him also. GO BUCKS!!!
SC - persistence pays off!
Anybody know what channel NBCSN is on DirecTV?
Lucky enough to get 1 of 7 tix handed out to my Squadron....Looking forward to rooting on The Buckeyes with my fellow OSU fans...Go Bucks!!!
@ Bukyze
Can't give you the exact channel number right now, but I do know it is in the low 600's. Right close to BTN, which is 610. Hope that helps you.
"What we do in life echoes in eternity"
DTV moved the channel to 220.
Thanks guys. NW - I'm going to have your avatar in my mind the rest of the day now.
