I think the B1G has the advantage this year. Who does everyone have in these matchups?
tOSU @ Duke
Minn @ FSU
Iowa @ V Tech
NC St. @ tsun
Maryland @ NW (awkward)
Neb @ Wake
UNC @ IU
UVA @ Wisky
Purdue @ Clem
MSU @ Miami
G-Tech @ Ill
BC @ PSU

The B1G goes 9-3 this year.
OSU- OSU could easily lose this though, easily.
Minnesota
Iowa
NC State
Maryland
Wake Forest
Indiana
Wisconsin
Purdue
MSU
Illinois
Boston College
tOSU @ Duke- tOSU
Duke just came off a big game vs. Louisville, and OSU has been prepping for this game for weeks. I think that the perimeter defense of Craft and Scott will create a lot of pressure on Duke, and will get them out of their half court offense. I am also wondering how Ryan Kelly will guard Thomas. We need to be tough on the glass, but I think we will win. Obviously, this will be a war.
Minn @ FSU- Minn
This is a great matchup. FSU returns four starters on a team that won 25 games last year. Minnesota returns their top five scorers, and Mbakwe has been really fired up. I think this comes down to the wire, but will give the edge (barely) to Minnesota because they have already played Duke (a loss), Memphis (a win) and Stanford (a win).
Iowa @ V Tech- Iowa
Two teams that will be near the bottom in their respective conferences. Iowa lost Matt Gatens who was the clear leader last year. V Tech has their best two players back from last year, but the team wasn't really good last year. I say Iowa wins this one, but this is another good matchup.
NC St. @ tsun- tsun
Wow. Talk about a lot of talent. This should be an absolute battle. NC St. returns their top four scorers, and adds three stud freshmen. CJ Leslie is a really good, versatile forward and Lorenzo Brown can fill it up as well. tsun beat Pitt the other night, and has a lot of talent. Yes they have Trey Burke back, but I have also been impressed with Glen Robinson III (little dog?) and the other freshmen. As much as I hate to say it, this is a really good scum team. I think these two teams are fairly evenly matched talent wise, but give the edge to scum at home.
Maryland @ NW (awkward)- Maryland
If Maryland wins, does the B1G get a half a point? Drew Crawford is back for NW, and Maryland isn't very good. However, Maryland did bring in a pretty good recruting class. I'm worried that NW may be banged up inside too much in this one, and take Maryland. Remember, Maryland only lost to KY by 3 a few weeks ago.
Neb @ Wake- Wake
Wake isn't bad. Nebraska is. Wake will win.
UNC @ IU- IU
Wow. Just wow. I love the ACC/B1G challenge so much. Mostly for matchups like this. UNC is young, but reloaded as usually. I love McAdoo's game. IU is stacked, as we are reminded by espn every 5 minutes. This will be close, but you have to think IU pulls it out at home.
UVA @ Wisky- Wisky
Two really crafty teams. UVA is well coached and plays excellent defense. Bo Ryan annoys me, but his teams play hard. I think the difference here is that Wisconsin has a frontcourt that is experienced and tough. I think they wear down UVA. Another nice matchup here.
Purdue @ Clem- Clem
I thought Purdue would be decent this year. Right now, they are sitting at 2-3, having lost to Oregon St., Bucknell, and Villanova. None of those is a terrible loss, but Purdue should have won each of those games. I think Purdue is a better team than Clemson, but the game is @ Clemson. I'll take Clemson in the upset here.
MSU @ Miami- MSU
MSU rolls. The U lost to Florida Gulf Coast. For reals.
G-Tech @ Ill- Ill
As an OSU fan, I have nightmares about Brandon Paul. Seriously. G-Tech has some talent coming in this year, but doesn't have enough fire power to win @ Ill.
BC @ PSU- PSU
Yuck. This game is just bad, as both these teams has a long way to go. BC has everyone back from an awful team (is that a good thing)? PSU lost to Akron already. BC lost to Charleston (not terrible, at least I've heard of them) and Bryant University. Bryant? What the heck? I blame Jim Bollman, and must take PSU at home.
That would be 9-3 B1G. Some of those (including tOSU) are toss-up games. Should be a lot of fun though, and a great way to gear up for college bball.
Duke over Ohio State
Minnesota over Florida State
Iowa over Virginia Tech
Michigan over North Carolina State
Maryland over Northwestern
Wake Forest over Nebraska
Indiana over North Carolina
Wisconsin over Virginia
Clemson over Purdue
Michigan State over Miami (FL)
Illinois over Georgia Tech
Boston College over Penn State
Big 10 wins 7-5. BC @ PSU, OSU @ Duke, Iowa @ VT and UM @ NW are all tossups though. Should be a good challenge this year.
tOSU @ Duke - Duke
Minn @ FSU - FSU
Iowa @ V Tech - Iowa
NC St. @ tsun - TSUN
Maryland @ NW (awkward) - Maryland
Neb @ Wake - Wake
UNC @ IU - IU
UVA @ Wisky - Wisky
Purdue @ Clem - Purdue
MSU @ Miami - MSU
G-Tech @ Ill - Illinois
BC @ PSU - Boton College
I have the B1G going 7-5, challenge will be excellent and i think about hlaf these games are a coin flip.
OSU @ Duke - Tossup - edge to Duke for home court advantage
Minnesota @ Florida State - Minnesota
Iowa @ Virginia Tech - Virginia Tech
NC State @ TSUN - TSUN
Maryland @ Northwestern - Maryland (will be interesting when they change sides)
Nebraska @ Wake Forest - Wake Forest
UNC @ Indiana - Indiana
Virginia @ Wisconsin - Wisconsin
Purdue @ Clemson - Purdue
MSU @ Miami - MSU
Georgia Tech @ Illinois - Illinois
Boston College @ Penn State - Boston College
Big Ten 7, ACC 5 - possibly 8-4 because I think OSU does have a decent chance at winning tomorrow night.
Class of 2010.
Minnesota is close to winning, Iowa lost, and scUM is on th verge to losing. I feel like I should be cheering for the Big Ten, but I can't bring myself to cheer for scUM or Clappy the Clown...
Minnesota won
Iowa lost
Michigan won
not sure if they showed Trey Burke or Denard more during that game
NC State got jobbed on at least one of those baskets. Why would they show the guy who got stuffed by our D without the best D player of the year?
You knew Ed Hightower was not going to go quietly into the night on National TV did ya now?
@FiredUp: It was TV Teddy Valentine, but close enough.
So, Wake Forest is losing to Nebraska. What the heck?
Edit: Dickie V is calling the IU game. Ugh.
Upvote for the "Ugh." Watched 5 minutes of the game and couldnt watch it anymore. Found myself wishing Knight was calling it so relevent thought was inlcuded and any "baby" references were not.
Nothing like dancing on the field in 02...
On the plus side, it means Dickie V isn't doing our game with Duke this year. Kind of surprising really. I thought that they always tried to put him on whenever Duke plays a marquee matchup.
Unfortunately ours is commentated by Musburger, who I can deal with for football, but his lack of basketball knowledge makes him really annoying to listen to for a game.
ah thank you! If Dickie V works tonight he cant work tommorrow right? Please say yes
Hopefully he won't go Dukie V on us tomorrow. Granted, I wouldn't be surprised if he flew back first thing tomorrow morning to go to our game -unfortunately. As for the game, UNC can win this if they calm down and runan offense.
PSU's best player (Tim Frazier) is out for the rest of the season. I think they lose. The rest of the crew looks tough, though.
I just can't see Penn State beating Boston College without their two best ballhandlers...Tim Frazier, and Jerry Sandusky.
hahahahahaaaaa
"You win with people." - Woody Hayes
@firedup Dickie V isn't working tOSU game tonight. I saw somewhere that it will be Musberger and Jay Bilas. Wish it were Gus Johnson and/or Raftery, but at least it's not Vitale.
I still think PSU could pull this off at home. Again, BC lost to Bryant.
B1G looked really tough yesterday, as Minnesota, tsun, and IU played really well. In a panic move, the ACC immediately contacted Louisville to boost it's future in the ACC/B1G challenge!
Im glad Dickie V isn't doing the game either, but I find Gus Johnson equally annoying. Every play ain't a Championship winning play Gus! Dial it down a bit.
Is it just me, or is indiana's home floor terrifying? You couldn't even hear the announcers over the crowd at some points. I'm not knocking Thad Matta, but a good Indiana is going to be tough on Ohio State Bball. Hopefully we've improved enough to be able to take on Michigan/mich st for recruits, b/c I think most top players will pick that atmosphere over ours.
Pass that fatty this way, that is some good stuff you got there. Good enough to take on MSU and that other team for recruits? Really?
I think we'll continue the trend of beating Indiana at home every time. OSU got refballed BIGTIME @ Indiana last year too, so it's hard to say at this point.
I think Matta's record in recruiting speaks for itself, not to mention the two studs we already have committed to us.
I think Iwearmocs' point is that things are getting a lot tougher for Matta on the recruiting front. Outside of the Kelvin Sampson year, IU has not been as big a factor in recruiting as they are under Crean. The game has changed. Matta may not be able to lure some of the top Indiana talent away like he used to (Oden, Conley, Cook, Thomas). While Matta is still a good recruiter, his competition is catching up.
PS. I like all four of our commits over the next two years. I just want to see him bring in a big that can post up to go with them.
I predict early foul trouble for Craft against Duke. He is one of the most physical PGs in college and is playing against Duke at Cameron. I have a feeling there will be some serious outrage re: fouls on the Ohio State message boards tomorrow. If we cant play aggressive perimeter D we will struggle to contain Duke.
<--------- I'm so happy the Gophers won. Lets get the win tonight Buckeyes!
Ohio State's band SLAUGHTERED Michigan's band. If this were a football game, it would have been Florida State vs. Savannah State. - SB Nation following OSU vs. UM 2012
'sota is a real sleeper ... tell you what, Tubby Smith has a solid team. Mbakwe didn't even play that well last night & they dominated FSU ... I think the B1G gets 7 teams in the big dance this year: OSU, Indiana, MSU, scUM, Illinois, Wisconsin, Minnesota, Nebraska is an early surprise - could be 8
btw -- Joshy, I know that was just wrong...but I LOLd hahahah that is classic
This may finally be the year that Minnesota shows up as long as they can shore up whatever the hell happened to their defense against Duke.
Also, Nebraska is terrible. Beating Wake Forest doesn't mean as much as it would have 3-4 years ago. With that said, I see the same 7 as being pretty confident locks at this point, with one out of Purdue/Iowa/Nebraska/Northwestern improving down the stretch and maybe making the last 4 in. Penn State is the only one that I don't see having any chance now that Tim Frazier is done for the year.
So, wisky is down early against UVa. I think Wisky will end up winning, though.
Realistically, I don't think that we will win, but I would love it if we emerged from Cameron with a W. I think Craft will be in foul trouble, but will score well. I also think that Deshaun will get his points, too.
I tried watching that Wisconsin game but as usual I opted for the all-night dentist appointment instead.
Purdue seems to go as DJ Byrd does and that dude is going off tonight - 20 pts at HT. Did the Indiana Correctional System give Byrd another furlough for basketball season?
Bo, your team sucks this year - Deal With It!
I cannot believe how the loss of gasser has been this big. They are losing, at Khol, to UVa. Still.
I wasn't aware of Gasser's injury until you mentioned it. But, yeah, now that you did, he was one of the better players. But the end result is that Bo's team sucks this year and he'll have to deal with it.
tough loss to stomach
If you honestly saw, Michigan State losing to Miami; please let me know. This or Wisconsin losing at home might be the biggest disappointment in the ACC vs. B1G Challenge.
