Sully impressing Celtics coach and vets

Garnett called him Sully.

I read "high basketball IQ" like six times.

That. is. awesome.

So proud of him being a Buckeye and so happy for him that guys like Garnett, Pierce, Rondo and Doc are recognizing how special he is.   Keep it up Sully!

I know there's a game saturday, and my ass will be there.

I understood the hesitancy of teams wanting to take him due to his tweener size and not really fitting a position completely like many prospects do. But it's never hindered him anywhere and he always busts his butt to do what he's gotta do. That should've amounted to more than it did and gotten him a better draft position even with questions concerning his "injury risk".

I may hate the Celtics, but this at least gives me less of a reason to hate them. Hopefully he makes us all proud and proves all of the naysayers wrong.

Sully will be one of those guys who proves you don't have to fit a certain mold to be a great player.  He may not be the best player in the NBA or anything like that, but he'll end up being a very productive player for them.

I haven't been much of an NBA fan over the years, but caught myself watching a Celtics preseason game on NBA TV just to see Sully play.  I have a feeling that I may become a closet Celts fan if he keeps it up.

Good for Sully.  Way to show those NBA doctors up!

I am not a celtics fan but never disliked them either. For some reason I chose a dreadful team to follow but they are mine and I don't waiver.

With that said, now that Sully is on there, I might be a bigger fan than ever. I think it might be possible for Sully to start next to Garnett. He is everything that Garnett isn't except the basketball IQ, both very high. Garnet is a lean, aggressive, above the rim, tall defender who isn't half bad on offense. Sully is a stout, calculating, offensively skilled big guy who with the right sidekick is decent on defense. They compliment each other very well and I think it is the only way Sully will succeed in the NBA.

Plus man can both of them rebound! Wouldn't surpise me late in the season if these 2 don't average 20 a game in May.

As you can see from my profile, I am a Celtics fan (Boston is my home town) and I watched the NBA draft for the first time this year just to see where Sully ended up. Imagine my delight when Boston had the back to back picks and they grabbed him !

Hoping that he can contribute to a successful run back to the championship this year or in the near future. His impact is already apparent, as i think he led the game in rebounds last night.

I don't think he will be an all star(i hope im wrong), but with a 'high basketball IQ' and the intangibles we watched over the past two seasons, Jared can be a solid player and find a spot on an NBA bench for years to come.

Great article!  His basketball IQ will keep him in the league for a decade.

@Toothbuck He is starting/did start for the Celtics against the Nets. We are going to miss his rebounding in a major way.

His presence is going to be missed, here's to hoping Amir steps up for the Bucks big time this season.

He is going to be a 20/10 guy be year 3. Write it down. Borderline all star for many years with his toolset.

Watching the celts the other night play the Brooklyn (yeah, that's weird) Nets. Glad to see that Sully started alongside Garnett. I thought he played pretty well, although he did get in foul trouble due to some tough breaks. He should really do well in that environment, and is surrounded by really excellent veteran leaders. Wish Sully nothing but the best, a real class act.

As a Celtics and Buckeye fan I was excited when Sully was drafted to help bring new life to the team, hopefully he is smart enough to learn from the remaining members of the original Big Three.
