Thanks for doing all you do GSW.
I heard that Nigel Hayes is 6'8" and 225 lbs now.
Just not used to seeing recruiting so slow going for Thad and crew. I know he's had some assistant turnover (due to success) the last few years, but it seems like the good to great classes Matta has brought in were largely committed early. Doesn't seem like even one of these offers, based on hearsay, is even a lean. We are still not a true blueblood, but have had much success with Matta, and put players in the league. We will have PLENTY of opportunity after this season for playing time across the board. Starting to get worried. Maybe could whomever covers basketball and recruiting for 11W post a mailbag update prior to the season? Sure would help my growing anxiety about the future of the program...

Bobcat we only have 1 senior this year... Could have an early entry or 2 but adding these 2 and maybe 1-2 more will keep us competitive in future years.
Some people might not agree with my opinion, but I'd like to see Thad Matta recruit a little bit harder. Maybe that's just the expectation now that we have Urban Meyer pulling in big names for football..
It's 5 o'clock somewhere, & Michigan still sucks
Would love to see Hayes commit to us but I read somewhere that he favored Wiconsin. I really want to see us pull in at least one big. Even if he is a project that will take a couple of years to really contribute.

I'm staring to think that the NCAA may need to investigate the sudden High interest in Indiana's basketball program. What is drawing all these kids to Bloomington? This hair?
Indiana is one of the greatest and most traditional basketball powers in college basketball...

No its not that, it's gotta be the hair.

Hearing Nigel Hayes has a top 2 of OSU and Wisconsin, eliminated Stanford
Sorry Urban, Woody is still my favorite
Hearing that Thad will be traveling to NH today to recruit Noah Vonleh in person. Bball team has an off day after a couple of really long days of practice.
With Williams off the board, Vonleh is one of the few remaining prospects we have left at forward. I expect Thad to go after him very hard.
Sorry Urban, Woody is still my favorite

Matta getting good at coming up empty handed. Down to 4 kids with offers. Better get this turned around, or in 2 years we'll be middle of the pack. And we're never beating Indiana again ever, it seems.
Keep in mind this isn't like football recruiting where you have to build years and layers of depth. Basketball your recruiting fortunes and entire team can turn around with one good recruiting class because unlike football big name freshmen are major impact players on a team right away. Thad's doing just fine. He's already got two very good players in this class and a beat on some more in 2014. This team's going to be good going forward. They still have a TON of young talent on the roster...could be one of the reasons we're not landing as many recruits. The other side of the coin is maybe we're not bringing in these big time one and done type players but we've got guys that will be in it for the long haul and we'll have veteran seasoned teams and Thad can actually build some continuity in his program instead of having to hit the reset button every year.

Thanks for all of the updates. Do we have a legitimate shot with anyone remaining uncommitted for 2013?
thanks again
Are there really no Ohio forward/center prospects left that are worth offering?
Here's the list of the top Ohio b-ball recruits for 2013 according to 247:

Need some big guys! Starting to think all the talent we have on the bench is scaring away some.
Pay It Forward!
Matta will be fine. Some decent talent in 2014 that he can sell time too with the loss of Ravenel and Thomas?. Jae'Sean Tate SF is supposedly very talented and holds a scholarship offer from the Buckeyes. Not a whole lot of highly skilled basketball talent in Ohio recently since that stud Sullinger class.
