Greg Oden to the Heat

Question for Cavs fans. If Greg Oden was healthy and played this year for the Heat, would you root for him to flourish like we all hoped he would if it meant that it helps Lebron James win another title? I certainly would but I am not a Cavs fan. Thoughts?

I'm a Cavs fan and was before LeBron and am continuing post-LeBron. Yes, it sucked to see James win a title with another team, but honestly I'm pretty much over it and am concentrated on the Cavs with Kyrie Irving and company and what the future could hold in Cleveland.

I hope Oden comes back and I hope he is successful. I don't really care where the guy plays, Miami or wherever. When healthy the guy is a great player and I wish him the best. Besides, we all know in sports that there are no guarantees (unless you're Joe Namath I suppose) and who knows if Miami will actually win another title, Oden or not.

I hope Greg Oden can get healthy and play at the level we all know he can play at. Yes I would root for him to do well and if healthy the Heat with Chalmers, Wade, James, Bosh and a healthy Oden starting with Ray Allen and Rashard Lewis off the Bench it dosen't matter who I root for they will win. I just hope as a Cavs fan Kyrie can keep getting better, Waiters and Zeller can be descent.

It's good to be home.

Funny that you bring it up.  Back when the Heat were behind in the Celtics series this year, a few of us at work were talking about Oden and how he would be ideal for the Heat.  Minimum salary to sign him.  The Heat would not have to rely on him for huge minutes, but there would be room for him to get more time as his health improved and if his production warranted it.  He would provide the inside defensive presence the Heat do not have.  And because of the other players on the team, he could focus on defense for now, and let him take his time finding his offensive game in the pros.  It would be a low risk, high reward scenario for the Heat.  And would be a low pressure situation for Greg that would enable him to get another opportunity to start his pro career.

FWIW: The article in Buckshots from FoxSports mentioned that  7 teams are interested or have been keeping tabs on Oden for when he does return to play (whether if be ths season or the next) and while he wouldn't mention who had been in contact, his agent said the Heat have not contacted him. He did say though that Greg is interested in playing for the Heat.

I know I'm pathetic, but I'm still bitter.  I hate the Heat and any person on that team.

Hate the heat.  Oden, if he were smart, would go to Phoenix.  No one.  As in no one, has a better training staff.  Look at what they did with injury prone wrecks like Shaq, Nash, Hill, and Redd.  They have a different system and it is phenomenal at dealing with chronic long term injuries.

Big Cavs fan and I am over being sad that LBJ left Cleveland. I refused to be mad or have actual hatred toward LBJ it is just not worth the emotion. LBJ made the best possible move for him and his career and as it turns out he made a smart move. Dan Gilbert should carry some of the blame for losing LBJ and his lack of expperience as an Owner really hurt Cavs chances of keeping him.  Gilbert and Front office let LBJ run that team for the last 4-5 years and you just can't do that. LBJ could have handled the situation with alot more maturity but he didn't and he moved on. Anyone who has passion for sports has at some point experienced heartbreak and unfortunatly in Cleveland it is a common feeling. I would hope Oden well in Miami but I'm not gonna become a Heat fan. Alway a Cavs fan!

Don't forget Oden is from Indy, rumour there has it if it works health wise, he could help back up Hibbert.    I could see that before Cleveland

I would def root for him. Im not a Cleveland fan nor was I mad ever mad at LBJ for leaving. The guy didnt do anything illegal but like others stated he could have acted a little more mature about the situation. I dont understand how some Cavs fans can be mad at LBJ for his lack of maturity when Dan Gilbert took it to a whole new level in terms of immaturity with his "letter". I hope Oden can come back and play like he did while at OSU. The guy has so much potential but his body just doesnt seem to hold up very well. Once a Buckeye, ALWAYS a Buckeye...

I want Greg Oden to do well, more than I could ever root against a team I don't like.

I'll be pulling for Mr. Oden all the way individually. But for the Heat as a team, I hope they're circling the drain by the end of next season. ( though thats not realistic)

Can't stand the Heat. I wouldn't hate Greg for doing it, but definitely wouldn't root for him to win anything. I just can't stand what the NBA is turning into with everyone trying to just form super teams because they can't get it done on their own and it's just escalating. That combined with my thinking the Heatles are egomaniac spoiled brat a-holes means I can't stand them. Nothing like watching them make fun of Dirk, make fun of us commoners because we have to go on with our pathetic little lives tomorrow, the way they throw humongous hissy fits on the court every time the whistle blows or they get touched and it doesn't blow. Mind you this is all excluding the Decision and the shambles Bron left the Cavs in and the drama game we had to play for 3 years (is he gonna go to New York or is he gonna stay?? Everyone better get down on their knees before him or else he might go) taking on bad contracts to bring in players he requested to try to appease him. The coming out party the day after he left Cleveland. That team and that guy are still #1 on my list of most disliked pros. As far as my sports disdain goes I've got That School Up North and That Man Down South. So...I'll root for Greg to do well individually but lose every game.

I don't really have a favorite NBA team. I'd like to see all the buckeyes that are in the NBA dominate. I also have no beef with Lebron. I assume someone threw a bunch of money at Lebron for "The Decision" and it seemed like a good idea at the time. Had he been a little mature, he probably wouldn't have done it.

Lebron went to play with some friends and two pretty good NBA players.

If Oden went and played with Conley again, I wouldn't blame him at all.

If he went to the Heat so he could help win another ring, I wouldn't blame  him either, however, Oden has stated that he's taking this year off to make sure he's 100% before returning. I would be a little surprised if he's back this year.
