Quickly losing any respect for Bo Ryan during Mike and Mike interview

Not that I was a giant fan of Bo Ryan but I respected him more than the football coach..Now I put them on the same level after listening to him explain why he blocked one of his players that wanted to transfer (jason utumoff-spelling) from transferring to any school in the big 10, ACC, along with Iowa State and a few other schools.  Now I know this happens with other schools, but listening to Ryan go to the "Everybody else does it" card, and the player should "read the small print" on the scholarship card is really weak in my book, when coaches can pick up and leave like it's nothing.  And comming from a school that benifited from TRANSFER Russell Wilson, and about to get another TRANSFER QB something seems wrong about what he was saying.  My question is;  Is Thad or O-State blocking the transfer choices of J.D. and Sibert since Ryan says everybody is doing it?

I dont think Wilson and O'brien are necessarily 'transfers', they graduated didn't they? I think transfer restrictions are absolutely ridiculous. Kid wants to leave, let him leave. From a programs point of view, he is of no importance if he doesn't want to be there and play. All this will do is cause issues with the player and the program. Just let it go.

I think this just confirms even moreso that Bo Ryan is ass! He probably knows his program is hangin on a thread and is about to fall back into the pack while OSU, UM and MSU are staying on top.

I hope the kid comes to an Ohio school. Then I hope they meet in the first round and he helps knock out those badgers in the first round!

LMAO love Greeny coming back sarcastically because Bo calls him out for not having been in the "trenches of the practice."

This is just a PR nightmare.  He could have come on and said, "This is nothing new.  Uthoff hasn't discussed his transfer with me.  All transfers have to go through this process."  Something along those lines.

He made an absolute mess of himself on M&M.  He's not necessarily in the wrong, but he's handling it so poorly.

It's also a little known fact that a scholarship is only for one year. The coach has the option to renew your scholarship or cut you after each year. Kind of a double standard in that the kid can't "cut" the school just like the school can cut him. Just another example of NCAA nonsense.

I think the only stipulation we put on transfers is they can't be on a Big Ten squad

I don't like the transfer rules the NCAA has set out in the first place. Unfortunately what Bo Ryan and every other knucklehead coach out there who puts restrictions on where kids can and can't transfer are operating within the rules of the NCAA. I think a kid should be open to transferring anywhere they want, in conference, out of conference, whatever, just like any other student has the ability to transfer from a school and go to any other school they wish.

They talk about not wanting to give the athletes extra benefits or make them 'different' than other students, but doesn't this transfer stuff make them 'different' than other students? Its ridiculous.

The thing about this kid that I don't understand, is why did he even go to Wisky in the first place. He was a Mr. Basketball in Iowa who red-shirted this year, so he practiced with the team but didn't play in games, and he says one of the reasons for wanting to transfer is that he doesn't feel comfortable in their offense. Are you kidding me? Did the kid not see Wisky play ball before committing to them? They have been running the same dull, boring, ugly crap ever since Bo has been there. They dribble the ball up the court, pass it around from buzzcut to buzzcut until the shot clock is under 5, and one buzzcut throws up some God-awful outside shot and it usually goes in.

Rich Rod didn't care when Boren came to OSU.

The Big 10 makes sense...but the entire ACC? Iowa State? Clearly Bo didn't think he was going to contribute since he was red-shirted.  Who cares if he goes to Iowa State?

He sounds so dumb on M&M...(speaking to one of the Mikes) - Don't you have a penalty if you leave your job? ....Idiot.  The kid's on scholarship, not making hundreds of thousands of dollars in salary.  He's basically saying, well the kid didn't fulfill his full contract/scholarship obligation so we have to punish him.  WTF he didn't sign a 4 or 5 year contract.  I can't believe anyone would want to play for Wisconsin, first because they run the most boring offense on the planet, and second if you decide to leave Bo Ryan will punish you for not graduating from UW.

@British - I believe they are considered transfers, they have a year of eligibility left (obviously) but since UW can offer a grad program that NC State or Maryland doesn't offer, they don't have to sit out a year.  Same thing with Masoli to Ole Miss.
