I love when he commentates our games. He seems like our biggest fan. I think last night he thought he was one of our coaches. He wanted to jump out there and argue calls. Do you guys get the feeling he's angling for the job to replace Thad when the time comes? Or is he just angling for any coaching job right now?

is this a serious question? dan dakich sucks as an announcer and hes even worse as a coach. he was at BG, and couldn't get anything going. he is a flat tire.
i pray someone at ESPN is smart enough to get this moron out of the booth for ohio state games, he does EVERY SINGLE GAME.
I like Dakich, he knows his stuff, but I hope he is using a walker when it is time to replace Matta.
To me, Dakich is one of the best color commentators in the business. I know it's all subjective but I love him on the call. He'll overkill some points now and then (ie: Thomas can't play defense - we ALL know this) but I love how he calls it like he sees it including taking shots at officials. I don't want him coaching but I don't mind him calling our games.
My only problem with Dakich is that he doesnt seem to back off of things after he makes a first impression. It doesn't matter how many replays show something wasn't a flop or was a bad call, if he decides that a great charge was taken, then a great charge was taken even if the guy clearly was moving or flopped. I know they dont see every replay and this is a problem amongst all color guys, something about Dakich just annoys me more than others.

Dakich is a good announcer, Im gald he has been doing our games, but like Corey said, I hope Matta is here till he wants to call it quits, so I hope Dakich doesnt replace him.

i am suprised you all like him as a commentator. most the buckeye fans i am friends with absolutely hate him. i feel like i get 5-10 texts a game expressing it from people. maybe we are all just jerks.
Yeah, I don't think I'd want him as a coach, but I just thought last night he thought he was our coach. He wanted to jump out there and argue that elbow on Sully, he always wants to tell guys in the huddle during timeouts what they are doing wrong. He truly commentates a game from a coach's perspective and I love it.

Dakich has some interesting perspectives. More so than not, he annoys me. Dakich is way too critical of these kids playing a basketball game. Sure I wish OSU played a flawless game and beat the tar out of an opponent, but to call a player's play or decision horrible is over the top to me. I watch OSU games for enjoyment, not expecting to see highly trained professionals.

I would much rather listen to someone like Dakich who brings something basketball related to the table when he does a game than have Dick Vitale and his non sense or Gus Johnson screaming every play.

I like Dakich and Terrico, but last night they were annoying me with the arguing back and forth about Sully's was it a foul or wasn't it a foul business. It just makes for bad viewing when the guys keep talking over and over and over. I was thinking OK guys this game is a blow out, but there is action on the court could we please STFU about this now and talk about what's going on on the court.
I don't know how many Reds fans there are on here, but it reminded me a lot of the broadcasts when Thom Breneman and Chris Welsch cover games together. It's horrible. They constantly try to one up one another or correct what the other is saying or put the other guy in his place. I'd much rather listen to Jeff Brantley rambling on about eating a gallon of icecream and 2 slabs of ribs every night, then listen to those 2 fools argue.
Dan Dakich and Jay Bilas would be the best duo of CBB analysts. All others are poor in comparison to them.
Tirico and Dakich were fun to listen to yesterday in my opinion. I like them because it seems like you're sitting in the stands right with them, and it's two knowledable people behind you talking about every point of the game, which is fun when it actually does happen at games. That's just me, though.

Dakich is a great commentator. I love it when him and Mike do our games, but I don't think he'd ever be our head coach.
As of 2/26/12 (loss against Wisconsin) I am stating that Ohio State will make the 2012 Final Four.

We all have our opinions here folks. The thoughts of Jay Bilas being a top 2 commentator and Dakich being great, made me breifly ill.
If Dakich were to become OSU's basketball coach, I would predict the same outcome of our fortune to that of what would have happened had Glenn Mason been hired in 2001 instead of Jim Tressel. As Dennis Hopper once would say " Bad things, man."

I enjoy Dykes and Knight. For my play by play give me McDonough, Nessler, Patrick or Tirico, not a fan of Shulman at all. I also don't like Verne Lundquist.

I think he is great. They had some time to fill during that game so they did dwell on some topics for a bit too long. Illinois was terrible and OSU was on fire. Just hearing someone say something honest about players and officials is great in my book. Sometimes they go overboard with talking about a players mistakes but these are big time athletes and they can take a harsh word or two. Check out their Twitter accounts sometime. Are B1G refs the worst in the country? I think yes....BTAlbert that was a hilarious post about Brantley eating ice cream. I don't often lol but i did this time. Listening to the Reds lose is a little easier when he's rambling about his UDF malt he drinks "all the time" and Mississippi bbq. Ready for some Reds baseball sans Thom Breneman that is.

See I like Thom Breneman too. Am I crazy? The guy has been around the booth his whole life, and I guess I grew up on Marty so Thom reminds me of his dad so much. I don't like Joe Buck, the man has a great voice, but that's about it.
