Has anyone noticed what Byron Mullens has been doing since he got traded to Charlotte? I am not a big NBA guy, but holy smokes, he has gone from no playing time to droppin 20 pts and shooting threes. Charlotte is a bad team, but the fans seem to have takin a liking to him. I just wish he had scored like this when he played for us.

When did he start going by Byron?
Good call. I watch a little NBA, I know I am in the minority.
Yes, I noticed as well. He clearly developed his game in D-League, in the weight room, etc. Paying off.
Fortunate too, that Charlotte needed a big man and he is getting minutes, but he is producing. Started the last couple games. Impressive.
From committing to OSU from his Freshman year in high school, he sure turned a lot of buckeye fans off the way he handled his exit. Plenty other 1 and dones didn't get the bad press he did. Same thing happened to Koufos when he left, however it counted against OSU and that number the NCAA uses to determine how you are doing.
Koufos on the other hand, same situation (1 and done), has not had the same success in the NBA. He has jumped around, but has never gotten an opportunity to play. Every team has had a solid starter in front of him. Sometimes luck has a lot to do with it.
In the end, they both we never need to work if they 'watch' their money. So it is hard to argue with their decision to leave.
Ever since he joined the NBA he changed how he would be referred to. Byron instead of BJ. Never found out why...
I just wish he had scored like this when he played for us.
Well, yeah, but he was a freshman when he played for us, with the inconsistency that usually implies. I think people were bummed out by the way his one season here ended, and because he wasn't Greg Oden in the middle. But he showed flashes here.
The most "loud mouth, disrespect" poster on 11W.
Byron was practically homeless before he got to college. I remember Matta saying that the Mullens' home had no windows when he first visited them. I can't believe anyone would have had any hard feelings about him going pro given his family situation. I hope he has learned to take care of his money now that he has some, because it sounds like there wouldn't be much to fall back on.
Kid is a thug. But, hey, he wore scarlet and gray. Keep it up, B.J./Byron/WhateverTheHellYourNameIs

Glad you grew up with an easy life mastermind, makes it easier to comment on peoples situations you cant understand withouth remorse.
My name may no longer just be a joke o.O
Favorite Buckeye: Obviously BJ Mullens
I live in Charlotte and watch the Bobcats regularly.
He has worked his way into the starting lineup in the alast few weeks. Obviously Charlotte is a very below average team that is searching for talent. They are trying to build their team like OKC has thru the draft and hoping to hit on a player like Kevin Durant. They previously has Kwame Brown at center last year, and started the season off with an overweight Boris Diaw, so it wasn't hard for him to get some PT with a couple of nice games.
He is a very complete offensive player with really good range, very much like Dirk Nowitzki was as a rookie/soph in the league. Big goofy white guy running up and down the floor, not much of a defensive presence and doesnt really like to get inside and bang around with the big boys. Offensively he's the perfect big for pick and pop offenses, he will drill the open 20 footer with regularity.
All in all, if he were anywhere but Charlotte and maybe a few other basement dwellers he wouldn't be starting, but if he were on a championship contender he's a good option off the bench and could thrive as a backup as an offensive spark while the starter gets some rest.
Byron would be a senior this year....you watched him you knew he needed time to develop....makes sense he's turning into a player right about now...Thad really wanted him to stay and really thought BJ made the wrong decision to go
Alex: Developmentally, there is little doubt that he made the wrong decision. But when you know you are going to get drafted in the first round and make a million guaranteed and your family is homeless, it changes the calculus a bit. I am glad that someone is giving him a shot and no one in his family should have to suffer for money again.
It looks like Koufos could have used another year to develop as well. He's gone back to Greece if I am not mistaken.
Damn, he would be Senior wouldn't he. Lol seems like forever since he played at TOSU.
Thats the huge problem obviously a lot of these players take off for the pros and are not even close to be ready but how can we judge when we dont walk in their shoes. If a Hospital offered me millions to leave school early eventhough id be underprepared i probably would have taken it lol...... Koufos should of stayed as well. The list is to long to list on players that would of been served greatly by four years in college but this is life!
Michigan Sucks!
