Given he's been at the helm since 1997 (and its Executive VP of Content, since 2005), I have long-blamed John Skipper for the bias and obnoxious culture that has made ESPN (other than Buckeye football and basketball games) not a target of my remote. Skipper's been the boss and the buck stops at the top.
Arguably, Skipper was integral to the success of the WWL. But, he's been paid for that performance. What about his failure to maintain audience share? Why did this big shot fail to see the need to chart a new course toward the mobile platform? Did his well-known disdain for eSports, blind him?
If What have you done for me lately? is a law of American business, why isn't John Skipper among the one hundred getting pink slips, today, at ESPN?
