My brother and I are driving to western NC in a few weeks to visit the parents and other family (we've had a family reunion where my parents now live since I was a very little kid), and I've become sick of driving the same old way, down I-71 to I-75, to I-40, to I-26. I'm trying to convince the brother that we should take US 23 the whole way down (It becomes I-26 just over the border into Tennessee). The difference in time taken for driving is only 30 minutes, and we'd get to see some new sights on the way. My parents are very skeptical of the route we're planning, and want me to reconsider taking the traditional way. What's your opinion on it?
Road trip: Interstates, or US routes?
