So a real question / dilemma for readers - knowing there are legions of former HS football players out there. My son recently was selected All-District in Football as a QB, and although is not a D1 prospect - has had 4 or 5 D3 offers. Problem is - no "athletic" scholarships at D3. He can go to a great academic school & get decent academic aid (4.2 gpa) but still be short 20k annually.
How bad do YOU miss it? Would you take on 80k in loans to play D3 football - or go as a regular student at a local D1 that would cost less than 5k a year after academic schollys & aid? This is a real quandry right now - he would major in Mechanical Engineering, but has a passion for sports management (work as a gm in sports franchise someday) - so doing the athletic thing could be helpful to future career. Thoughts?
