Ray Rice Suspended Two Games

Ray Ray Jr. gets off the hook with a two game suspension to start the season. In other news, Josh Gordon is still awaiting a possible season-long suspension for getting high. Rules are rules and I understand that but it still baffles me how Gordon can be suspended a whole season for smoking weed while Rice gets two games for beating the crap out of his wife.

Better punishment for Ray Ray Jr... make him play all 16 games, regardless of injury status, behind that feeble Ravens o-line.

Yeah I have a feeling that within the next few years or so marijuana punishments will be significantly lowered.... There's no way that you should get a year ban just for testing positive to marijuana. They should treat it like alcohol. If you get a DUI then you can punish them.

The NFL needs to take domestic violence more seriously. Its not OK to beat your wife. Ray Rice did more than that. The woman was unconscious!

NFL should get their priorities straight. Ray Rice shouldn't play this season. Tarnish the shield? Guess that only matters if you hurt Roger's feelings or smoke pot.

The more I think about this the more it upsets me. Hit a man the wrong way in a football game and you'll get fined and can be suspended multiple games. If Rice's wife had that happen to her on the field, Ray would be out of the NFL.

Just like Ray Rice, he couldn't even get three yards on that carry either.

No I'm pretty sure this was Luke Fickell's fault.

Beating up a woman should be an automatic 1-year ban.

That would seem to be the most sensible punishment but if I were commissioner, I would kick Rice out of the league permanently.

Just to put it in perspective...

Ray Rice: Two games for beating up his wife

Terrelle Pryor: Five games for leaving while suspended from college football, even though the two associations are not related.

Way to go NFL...

and yet another player is even dumber, Justin Blackmon. Seriously, just kick this kid out of the league by now!

This is a real shame... and we can also blame the player's union on this. I'm a supporter of some aspects of unions but you know they would fight any extended suspension of Ray Rice.

That girl was out cold.

But, this is the same league where a former coach says Michael Sam would be a distraction yet that same exact coach was a mentor for Michael Vick and actively encouraged teams to sign him to a deal.

So, in the NFL.............. weed is worse then domestic violence AND gay is worse than dog murderer.

Donald Sterling asks his girlfriend not to take pictures with black people and he gets a lifetime ban.

Ray Rice knocks his girlfriend out cold and he gets a two-game suspension.

Interesting.

The key to getting away with bullshit is being named Ray and playing for the Ravens.

Shocker, the Ravens are getting away with murder. Well, not this time, just assaulted  a female but the precedent is there.

Let me start off by saying if he did hit her to knock her out then he should be suspended way more than 2 games. But I've seen that video about 20 times and I've yet to actually see him hit her.  I haven't followed the story that closely...did he admit to hitting her?  And Josh Gordon is not a good argument. He is a repeat offender that keeps doing stupid stuff.

Yeah, she must have just passed out on the elevator and Ray dragged her out because he was concerned. We haven't the video that was inside the elevator but you know there likely was one in a casino and that is why there were charges brought against him.

PS: They havent really admitted what happen, they have been very cryptic, but I think it's pretty clear from any rational person.

I'm a very rational person, but I've also carried drunk/passed out girls plenty of times and it looks a lot like that.  Again, I'm not defending Rice at all, I'm just curious if there is more info out there other than this video.  If he hit her and it is proven that he did, he should be suspended for the whole year.

"As you acknowledged during our meeting, your conduct was unquestionably inconsistent with league polices and the standard of behavior required of everyone who is part of the NFL," Goodell wrote in a letter to Rice after the NFL confirmed the suspension Thursday afternoon.

It seems like he pretty much admitted it.

And in regards to Gordon, of course he is a repeat offender and rules are rules... and if you break them, you should be punished.

But the punishments for these things should be drastically different in the OPPOSITE way of what they are now.

The first man gets the ((((Oyster)))), the second man gets the shell.

703Buckeye's picture

Rice did knock her out, the police have that video.

As for Gordon, I did say I understand that rules are rules... Gordon is a gigantic idiot for continually breaking rules that are in place. My problem is with having such harsh punishments for something that is so harmless and then having such lenient penalties for abuse of another person.

Question: where are all the women's rights groups?

There are also like 300 female broadcasters on ESPN, for example...I haven't heard anything from them either.

Are they that afraid of the arrogant NFL/Goodell. This is an outrage that Rice only received a 2-gamer.

If anyone did this on our team they'd be long gone.  Urban wouldn't hesitate.

You know the NFL will prob stilll do the "Wear Pink" campaign in October too.  Roger Goodell is a greedy piece of shit.

Exactly, Hyde allegedly hit a woman and was suspended more games than Rice.
