PHONE'S RINGING -- IT'S URBAN ON THE LINE
What happened? Get me up to speed.
Its good to be the king
Hoyer tried to slide on his way to a first down and got folded up on top of himself when he got hit....they're calling it a knee I think
Just now tuning in, haven't heard any updates yet, but read online that he hyperextended his right knee....had to be helped off the field.
"Success - it's what you do with what you got" - Woody Hayes
Possibly torn ligaments in his knee or ankle
Battles are sometimes won by generals; wars are nearly always won by sergeants and privates. Football is no different, the guys down in the trenches win the games, not the coach.
Hoyer is having a MRI right now (9:30am Friday). Adam Shefter reporting ACL tear.
I'm not saying, I'm just saying.
You're not kidding. And somehow, I was still surprised by that. You would think I'd learn...
TTUN fans would rather talk tOSU failures in the past ten years than their own successes. Probably because they haven't had a lot of success.
Job opening for Troy Smith!
"YOLO" = I'm about to do something extremely ignorant/stupid & I need an excuse to do it.
Man just when I thought Hoyer could cement himself as the guy this season.... sucks. Weeden isn't terrible, he just takes so many sacks. I would have considered this to be a successful season if Hoyer Stood out and played well all year and we could have banked those first rounders on a WR (Lee) and a lineman. RB would be there in 2nd or 3rd round.
Dustin Fox was our leading tackler as a corner.... because his guy always caught the ball.
Exactly. The worst thing out of this may be not knowing if Hoyer is the one. He looked the part in two games, that's for sure. Just hope the knee is just sprained without ligament tears.
Just picked up the Browns D this week....sah-weet.
WE WON!!!! WE WON!!!!! WE WON A PRIMETIME GAME!!!!!
Forget the primetime win.... We are freaking 3-2 baby!!!!
And in first place.
Stillers....ofer in last.
The Browns are cursed? The Browns are first.
BammBamm is my dog, Riley is my 4 yr old daughter, and THE Ohio state Buckeyes complete the three most sacred loves I cherish
Enjoy it while it lasts...because it won't...lol
Class of 2010.
I'll agree, it would be a miracle if the Browns can pull of 2 wins out of games against Det, GB, KC, Bal, Cin. But after 5 weeks, the Ravens and Bengals look suspect. It will all come down to how the Browns fare against the divisional rivals. If they can beat the teams in the division, they have a shot. Don't see them competing with the best teams in the AFC (Den, NE) but everyone else is game with this defense.
Wayne Woodrow Hayes
The Browns are fielding a top 5 defense and that isn't my opinion, that's a fact backed up by stats. If the defense continues to play well along with the AFC North being suspect, I wouldn't be surprised with a 9-7 record and a trip to the playoffs. The offensive line is playing 10x better than what what it was in weeks 1 & 2. However, Weeden isn't a very good QB and while I wouldn't be surprised if we go 9-7, I also wouldn't be surprised if we finish 6-10.
Not easy to pull yourself out of a 0-2 tailspin. Good stuff Brownies. Life in the NFL is one heck of a ride. Enjoy the highs Brown fans! You guys certainly deserve it.
4-6 seconds from point A to point B and when you get to point B, be pissed off
God, I hope Hoyer is ok. Win last night or not, Weeden is not the answer...
The postgame show is brought to you by... Christ, I can't find it. The hell with it...
It is really obvious when you have an OK QB to compare him to. He's just not mobile at all and holds on to the ball way too long.
Also, it seemed like the O-Line wasn't blocking as well when Weeden was in there. Or maybe the Bills were just pinning their ears back...
I think that is just a testament to how good Brian Hoyer is at getting rid of the football quickly (besides the play he got hurt on).
Don't give up... Don't ever give up.
Brownies fans - do you take a serious look at Josh Freeman????
I think you really have to. Regardless if Hoyer is fine or not, you only have 2 potentially healthy QB's (Campbell is hurt) and the chances are that Hoyer is going to be hurt. The front office obviously isn't happy with Weeden and will welcome competition. It's tough to bring a guy in mid-season, but a few years ago Freeman was expected to be one of the best young QB's in the league. I believe they're still way under the cap room, so that wouldn't be an issue either.
This was my thought. I honestly don't know much about him or if he'd fit in the Browns current scheme, but Weeden won't be able to keep this momentum going. Curious what the Browns' plans are with both this situation and plans for next year's draft.
Hell to the NO.
The team is above .500, don't bring in a locker room cancer. PLEASE!!!
He seems like a bad egg and I don't want that.
No. I would rather see the Browns look at Troy Smith or Vince Young first.
Look, Weeden might actually not be that bad. He still threw for a TD last night and almost 200 yards. Yes, he does take a lot of sacks, but as long as the receivers don't drop the ball when he hits them in the hands, does that matter? I am not sure. The Browns are defying all logic, and they make everything I think I know about football seem wrong and backwards. I think I'm just going to sit back and watch them play.
The Browns have to find out what they have in Weeden now. Who knows, maybe the light clicks on and he figures out how to make his reads quicker and get rid of the ball. He can certainly throw the ball, it's really just a matter of whether he can figure out where to throw it before those windows close or he gets blasted.
There is no benefit to playing Campbell, or Freeman, or whatever other journeyman they can find at this point. At least now they'll be forced to find out for sure whether he's a capable starter, a clipboard holder, or a grocery bagger.
I feel bad for Hoyer, though. He had a shot to show what he could do. He may not get another, at least with this team. If Weeden proves he's not the guy, the Browns can't burn another season finding out if Hoyer can play.
