After 4 long, hard years grinding it out at a job I cared little for, I accepted a wonderful job offer today that will really do wonders for me and my new family. There was a time when this sort of occasion would be celebrated with as much cheap beer and fried meat as my stomach could handle but as I age, I think my tastes have expanded a little. I'm looking for a suggestion or perhaps a nudge in the right direction from some of our more seasoned bourbon drinkers. An occasion like this calls for something a little beyond my usual bi monthly Bulleit purchase so I was hoping some of the more veteran bourbon drinkers out there had any suggestions for a bottle of bourbon in the $50-$125 range. I'm personally between Elijah Craig 12 or Woodford Rerserve Double Oak, as I've been looking for an excuse to up my price point a little, but I'm open to suggestion.
To you Bourbon drinkers out there, if you were celebrating something pretty substantial (not Pappy substantial), what would you advise?
