PHONE'S RINGING -- IT'S URBAN ON THE LINE
Holy crap his name is Shazier not Shayzurr.
It's the "Hybrid" position, not the Percy Harvin. Luckily, that's seemed to die down quite a bit.
"There's nothing that cleanses your soul like getting the hell kicked out of you." -Woody Hayes-
I don't get why people are so upset by calling it the Percy Harvin role. It's what all the recruits call it and it helps us land top talent. Its associated with Urban Meyer which I would think is a good thing.
Some Minnesota Vikings fans are not so enthusiastic about Percy Harvin.
Because it is associated with a uf player which is not good.
I think Urb's guy that played it at Utah is really upset with the name.
Pokud si můžete přečíst to pak budete mít zlatou hvězdu na den!
You mean Derrek Richards? lol That guy that scored 22 TDs as a former walk-on?
uh, its the Dontre Wilson position thank you very much!
who is this Percy guy anyways!
I saw a UFO once.......it told me to have a goodyear!
The 2013 Buckeyes lose 217 starters from last year's defense, how will they fill those voids?
Loved guys like Hankins, Simon, Boren etc. But really think this year's D has a higher ceiling when it's all said and done.
Hummm, OSU related things that piss me off...well there's M*ch*gan, and, well....fuck them.
The world is full of kings & queens who'll blind your eyes & steal your dreams - it's heaven & hell - Ronnie James Dio.
People hating us because we are good. Like don't hate the player, hate the game.
The media thinking that three middle aged, overweight guys in costumes, facepaint, who are mugging for the cameras, are somehow representative of Ohio State fandom.
This times 1000.
How firm thy friendship..
Agreed. Those walk around asking money to get a photo taken with them too!
could you be referring a certain person in a cowboy hat and a cape?
Listen here WyattRobin, you shouldn't wear white after laborday! Drop the act jack!
It appears to be more of a shower curtain than a cape. A cape would be an improvement.
I was going to ask why all the hate on a fellow Buckeye fan, but do they really charge for a picture?
Yes, yes and again yes!
That today is Saturday, and there's no football game. Looks like a golf ball will bear the brunt of my frustrations.
An angry fan...rooting for an angry team...led by angry coaches
1.) That our fanbase is so big, that it seems like we get half of the creepy weirdos who like to talk crap to recruits.
2.) That Michigan is still winning the series despite us whipping them up the past decade
1) Arrests and scandals.
2) The maniac fans who allegedly send death threats.
3) The whole O-H............I-O thing.
To quote a wise scholar named M. Loaf: Two out of three ain't bad. I like the whole O-H - I-O thing, I guess...
Or as he was referred to in a NY Times article, "Mr. Loaf".
Anything that esecpn has to say about The Ohio State University!! They have some good reports that played or coached at tOSU, but they are all on the sec band wagon at times.
That we're stuck in the B1G.
I love tradition, but let's face it- the rest the B1G is exactly what the SEC and ESPN say it is. An old, slow conference on the decline.
Get together with TSUN, call up the SEC and let's go.
Either that or form something new with TSUN, PSU, ND, Texas, Oklahoma, Tennessee, LSU, Alabama, Georgia, Auburn and Texas A&M.
Cycles my friend cycles. Prior to the SECs recent dominance remember who was playing 1 v 2 at the end of the season.
I get how it seems and how annoying it might be, but just wait. There will be a point where we can dump on the SEC like they do the B1G.
Every team in your proposed conference would be 5-5 every year! The B1G will return and the SEC will stumble. As a conference, their not as strong as they were two or three years ago, they just consistently have the best team. That said, their top half is stronger than the B1G's top half.
If the Buckeyes are still getting love (pre-season #2), then it really doesn't matter what the other teams in the B1G do. Perhaps that changes with the playoff, but for now, I'm good.
Really? All the SEC has to offer is football and that makes you want to jump ship? How about academics? Or practically any other sport? Like it has been said, success is cyclical. SEC can't remain at the top forever.
I wasn't born a Buckeye but I became one as fast as I could.
All you have to do is look at some of the team that have beaten Alabama in bowl games during the BCS era to know it's just hype: Virginia Tech, Michigan, Minnesota, OK St, and Utah, while barely beating Iowa St (14-13), Texas Tech(13-10), and Colorado (30-24). Granted, most of those were pre Saban, but he did barely beat Colorado and lost to Utah. SEC, has been (a) fortunate that Florida beat tOSU (thanks Urban) to start the hype, and (b) been living off that hype ever since.
Case in point, last year's bowl season. No one talks about it since Bama won the NC, but other than them and Texas A&M (newbie), the conference SUCKED. Either teams lost to lower ranked opponents (Florida, LSU), straight lost (Miss St), barely beat mediocre teams (SC, Georgia), beat really crappy teams (Vandy, Ole Miss) or didn't even make a bowl (Missouri, Tennessee, Kentucky, Auburn, Arkansas).
Seriously, just look at the Georgia/Nebraska game. Everyone talked about how close Georgia was to the NC game. They were tied going into the 4th quarter with a Nebraska team that gave up 70 to a 5 loss Wisconsin team (not to mention the beat down tOSU put on them). Total joke.
1.The Percy Harvin Role
2. Homer fans that can't form a well rounded opinion and think ncaaf pertains to their team. Its not worth talking to these people.
3. Buckeyes in the news for bad stuff
Insert witty remark
Perverts that try and hang out with recruits..
Amen to that WEZBUCK. Also people who say that just because we're from the "THE BIG TEN" we can't count.
High ticket prices and availability(or lack thereof) for non-alums like myself.
Two blondes were driving to Disneyland. The sign said: Disneyland Left... So they started crying and headed home.
He'll, they're not even available to alumns outside the possibility of 1 crummy game a year unless you donate $1500.
i LOATHE/DETEST/ABHOR/DESPISE "Value City Arena"
We had a holy trinity of basketball legends (Knight, Havlicek, Lucas) all worthy of having a bball venue named after them and we end up naming it that...
idc if they donated an assload of money...it sounds cheap/tacky.
Good stuff! Spot on...
Important to note that we do not own the Schott, therefore do not own Value City Arena... it wasn't ours to name
Cause I couldn't go for three
When someone does the OH - IO chant a million times. I am just fine with giving an IO back...........once, I like the chant, but after once you are getting on my nerves and I want to punch you in the face to make you stop.
Band gets 4, cheerleaders get 5, you get 3... that is the rule
"I don't give a damn for the whole state of....."
I get it. I live it. I just don't want to sing it.
I just hate the song. I'm good with a simple F!ck M...igan.
"Success - it's what you do with what you got" - Woody Hayes
Love that tune. To have a fight song that says, "up yours, Michigan" is awesome.
Those rubes don't seem to mind that tune either. I agree I have heard that song enough to last me....f them is always straight to the point brother!
Having 0-10 finger painted in the dust on my Buckeye covered vehicle. Hate living in Alabama. I keep her pretty clean now.
All the people in the stadium that don't really give a damn about football.
seconded! i expect the players to leave it on the field, so my job as a fan is to leave it in the stands - i.e., scream my frickin head off for 3+ hours (or at least every down that OSU is playing D). i've been told numerous times at every game to sit down and be quiet, and people around me glare at me all game. really people? seriously, if you're content to sit quietly in the stands, then why bother going to the game?
I dont know why you were downvoted. I dont like him much either.
The fact that I live too far away to go to more games.
Amen, RDUBS! I have not been able to make an E2B, and right now that is my dream. Maybe next year.
1). Espin they are everything that is wrong with sports..
2). Buckeye fans who think somehow cheering for other big10 teams will somehow help TOSU?? Get a clue most of the big10 are not here for the glory of winning.. They're here for 2 things money and more money...
3). Did I mention Espin???
"GIMMIE THAT BEAT FOOL!!! IT'S A FULL TIME JACK MOVE" Ice Cube jack for beats..
People who think Tressel and/or Meyer are scum.
People who think Tressel was just "protecting the kids" and did nothing wrong
NOT A DAMN THING! I am happy to take the good with the bad.

But definitely NOT this guy. Man, do I miss him in the 'Shoe.
I went to the concession stands one time and came back and he was sitting in my seat doing his thing! It was AWESOME!!!!....I miss him too!
Neutron Man had the good sense not to paint himself like those ridiculous clowns.
I must disagree with you about John Chubb "Buck-I-Guy". Mr. Chubb is a great fan and even better person.
A few years ago he did this:
"On Nov. 6, 2005, Chubb and his son, Tremaine, had a life-changing experience. They were the first people to respond to a car accident that left two people trapped inside a burning car... John Chubb said he freed the driver shortly before the car exploded in flames. The driver and passenger both survived."
"Since then, the Buck-I-Guy has spent a lot of time making appearances at community events. He has spoken at fundraisers for autism and diabetes while doing work with "Walk for the Cure" and the Stefanie Spielman Breast Cancer Foundation. He has also been a speaker at retirement communities and spends time reading to underprivileged children."
"It stems from coach Woody Hayes always talking about paying forward; this is something that has stuck with me throughout my life. I try to stay community-minded, Chubb said."
Buckeye great John Hicks on John Chubb:
"The Buck-I-Guy is a good representative of the tradition, and a good guy who goes to all the games and leads the cheers."
"I'm sick of following my dreams. I'm just going to ask them where they're goin', and hook up with them later." ~ Mitch Hedberg
I get that they may be nice guys, but their shtick is what annoys/embarrasses me.
I actually got a chance to meet him during my stay at children's hospital with my daughter, he came to visit the children in the hospital which was great! Super nice guy!
Thanks for the news on Buck-I-Guy. I thought he was kinda douchie. You have certainly changed my mind. Shame on me for making assumptions.
Proud parent of a Senior at The Ohio State University
I can respect the good things that Buck-I-Guy does and also know that the "Big Nut" does a lot of good for other people as well, BUT just because they do those things does not mean I want to see their faces 50+ times during every football game that I watch.
Kudos to them for the good things that they said they did.
However, do they really need to get dressed up and seek attention for themselves? Also, how about when they walk around tailgates asking is anyone wants a picture with them for $5?
Do these guys really ask for $$ for a picture?
I met Buck-I-Guy, Buckeyeman, and the Big Nut in Miami in 2011... talked with all of them and they were all taking pictures with everyone... never asked for a penny.
This deserves +2.
Someone help me out.
I really, really hope not to see either one of these idiots during the season. I'm sure the networks will let me down, but still.
This little thread feels un-American. You're seriously that bothered by two guys who love the Buckeyes so much that they go to this extent to pull for the good guys? I could/would never do it, but I think they're both great.
I'm with you Geraffi. I have only met Buck-I-Guy after a game once, and he was plenty nice to me and my teenaged son. Loved his wheels. I would never dress like that myself, but I still can't understand the hatred for these guys.
I've never met any of the others, and I understand that the one guy's nickname was Neutron Man? Is that correct? Not sure.
But can someone please tell me what sets him apart from the others? I understand he passed away a while ago, but what made him so "cool" and the others "El Douches?"
The douchebags are all about self-promotion. They want you to know they are there. They don;t show up to tOSU sporting events unless it is football or big time televised (only recently started to kinda show up to non late tournament games).
I've seen them pass out signed pictures of themselves, bully people into letting them into their row at games sans-ticket, bring large bed-sheet portraits of themselves to ESPN show broadcasts (dead serious). Most were scalpers, getting students to buy out large student allotments and selling them to anyone, robbing a lot of students a chance to go to the games (think NIT v Cincy in St John). Overall, they are self-absorbed, primadonas who care more about themselves than Ohio State.
I never met Neutron Man, but by my understanding, he was just an exuberant fan. He didn't give himself a stupid name, he didn't hand out pictures, he didn't seek out the camera. The camera found him because of the way he displayed his heart and soul on his sleeve during Buckeye games.
It's not about the outfits, it's about the egos and the reasons behind them.
Yes, I have to agree with you. The amount that these guys do for other people is tremendous. It pisses me off seeing all of these fans on this thread complaining about costumes and face-paint. If seeing people dressed in costume on TV seriously annoys people that much, I feel very sorry for their lives and they should probably get rid of their TV and never leave their house again. People are ridiculous and so critical.
Good lord, did you not read the post directly above you? The final line:
"It's not about the outfits, it's about the egos and reasons behind them."
They are self-made "celebrities" who use Oho State athletics for self promotion. They often resort to bullying to get their way. I spent my 4 years very involved in athletics at Ohio St, and have seen and heard enough to never want any of them near me on a gameday.
You should re-read my post. In fact read it a couple times. I said "Yes, I have to agree with you". I was saying it pisses me off when people (not accusing the person whose comment I commented on) complain about how annoying their "constumes and face-paint" are. For example, someone posted on this thread "The media thinking that three middle aged, overweight guys in costumes, face-paint, who are mugging for the cameras, are somehow representative of Ohio State fandom." They say nothing about their personalities and just bitch about being middle-aged and overweight guys. They are very nice people and there is no way in hell they deserve to be criticized like that. They dedicate hours upon hours rooting for the Buckeyes and i'll be damned if they get a hint of criticism from me. There are much worse Buckeye fans in the world than these dudes. And the last time I checked, you weren't the only person who commented negatively about these dudes, so why in the world would you assume my comment was directed towards you?
Firstly, you are right, I committed the same crime that I accused you of. I apologize.
In the end though, you are wrong. They certainly do deserve to be criticized. How many of us, given the resources, wouldn't attend as many Buckeye sporting events as we possibly could?? I certainly would be at every damn game if it was possible. By creating these personas, they open themselves to criticism. In my opinion, they reflect poorly on our fanbase. They are egotistical and are bullies. I have spent enough time involved with Ohio St athletics that I can speak from experience and not hearsay. Why do you think they are almost NEVER put on the jumbotron at games? Why do you think Block "O" bans them from their football section?
Yes, there are far worse Buckeye fans, as there are far worse sins than vanity and ego. The fans the resort to violence both physically and verbally towards anyone outside of distracting an opponent, are despicable. But just because they are a lesser evil does not mean they don't deserve criticism.
So what have they done?
"YOLO" = I'm about to do something extremely ignorant/stupid & I need an excuse to do it.
Want a short list? Let me rattle off a few I have personally seen off the top of my head (I won't say which one did what though):
-Bully their way into a front row they did not have tickets for claiming that they would "get everyone on tv, because they want to see me". Much of the row was not amused, and he waved off the usher who tried to move him. Didn't leave until the cops were threatened on him.
-Charge kids money for signatures/carry around signed pictures (that they charged for)
-Enter into Block "O" (which they are forbidden from), walking right past the officer checking tickets, following a cameraman. Ignored our protests. Left when the cameraman went to the other side of the section.
-Bring a large bedsheet to an ESPN show taping (it was the "Chapionship City" thingy, happened in like August of 2008) with his face painted on it. Showed up right as the taping was started, and pushed his way to the front and convinced two kids to hold up his bedsheet over other people's signs.
-Show up to a pep rally (don't remember if it was a buckeye kickoff or a beat Michigan or a homecoming...) and loudly complain about getting an appearance fee when no one had asked him to come.
Those are only the tings I personally witnessed and can remember off the top of my head. They are NOT representatives of our university or fanbase. They are showboating douchebags.
and loudly complain about getting an appearance fee when no one had asked him to come.
and loudly complain about getting an appearance fee when no one had asked him to come.
This has to be an exaggeration. XD
Not at all. I was the one he was bitching to.
I think he thought he could show up and we would use him in our programming, so then he could charge something
"Do you think this makeup is easy to put on?"
Have heard vastly differing accounts of these two from different people. Some extremely complimentary and others equally as extreme in the opposite direction.
Don't remember which one but one of these two came to a liveblog a while ago for some away game and put the staff on blast. Guess the carpet wasn't rolled out to satisfaction for the self-created celebrity. Hopefully he purchases a ticket to the Gold Pants Luncheon presented by "worthless children" Eleven Warriors.
Those two guys in costumes for starters, losing any sporting contest to scum, pervs who try to cozy up to athletes.
pervs who try to cozy up to athletes.
pervs who try to cozy up to athletes.
That was one of the most bizarre stories I've heard involving recruiting & Ohio State.
Yea.. these guys.
love their passion. but seriously.....
G Darnit, I hate both of those tools.
4-6 seconds from point A to point B and when you get to point B, be pissed off
early season Out of Conference games for football, scheduled at home and played at noon, against opponents that are either former Div 1-AA or in the bottom half of Div 1.
For goodness sake......... You're THE Ohio State University. Go out and challenge yourself. make yourself better, by competing against better opponents.
that's not good enough?
we aren't Wisconsin.
well, it's kind of like, my opinion. 4 OOC games a year and 1 is usually against top flight competion. IMO, OSU is giving me 25% of the OOC games a superb level. They can do better. 30 years ago, OSU's OOC games were all always against current BCS level schools.
Didn't we have Vandy but they backed out and we had to get SDSU as a fill in. As well with Cal didn't we schedule them when they had Rodgers as the QB so how were we suppose to know that they were going to be so bad. If we had Texas this year and look how bad they look everyone would be saying why is Ohio State picking on bad teams. The schedules are done so far in advance at the time it looks good but who knows how they look when the years actually come to play against them.
3 downvotes for this comment?
are you people serious?
You forgot the cardinal rule, Lurker.
All these and no TTUN?
OSU brings in top 10 recruiting classes on a regular basis. It's kind of a shame to bring in Braxton Millers, Ted Ginns, Vonn Bells, Brionte Dunns and Maurice Clarrets and then put them out on the field against the Akron, Buffalo, UAB and Youngstown States of CFB.
People pay alot of money to watch the Beannie Wells of the world display their talent at a high level, against other talent, not to perform a glorified scrimmage.
In 1995, OSU's OOC was Boston College, Washington, Pitt and Notre Dame. Good Matchups. The adversity good opponents would bring to OSU, could only help galvinize them into a tougher team.
1) I just saw that I have the same earrings as that guy. I'll never wear them again.
2) I'm still pissed that Ted Ginn Jr was hurt on the first play in the championship game during a celebration, for christsakes! I'm not likely to ever get over this either. Can't remember ever going from being so happy to so sad in such a short amount of time.
3) Trolls. Especially SEC trolls.
4) Anyone who chants "SEC! SEC!"
5) NCAA Infractions committee. A Magic 8 ball could produce less arbitrary results.
I was at Air Force Basic Training and we had michigan fans down stairs doing some tasks for our TI and they came up and said Ohio State got blown out and I thought they were lying. Sure enough in the morning found out that Ohio State did indeed get killed.
Fans who get upset about it being referred to as the Percy Harvin role,
even though it's obviously a decent recruiting tool and no one has
ever played the spot better.
When OSU is #2 in the preseason poll and within an hour ESPN writers have an article saying they're overrated.
Spot on about the Shazier comment. Tessitore did it about 10,000 times during the Wisconsin game.
I like football
1. They never offered me a football scholarship.
Haha, NO ONE offered me a football scholarship, not even JuCo, and I'm still pissed about it to this day.
That St. John's Arena no longer exists
It's St. John Arena (no s) but yes it is sad it is being replaced.
35 hours to Pasadena! Go Bucks!
The sitting on your hands money pit that is becoming Ohio Stadium while many real fans can't afford to go.
I usually go to a couple games a year, usually to the games that the season ticket holders don't want to go to(i know a few OSU alums-family, friends, business associates). The Buffalos, Middle Tennessee States, etc., are the ONLY games they're willing to sell, and I still cheer! (at the appropriate times, unlike the guys in makeup).
And I stay all four quarters, even in a blowout, because I'm spending several hundred $ on the game, and drove 2 and 1/2 hours to get to C-bus to see it.
My 7 year old daughter went to 3 games with me last year and 1 (so far) this year. When you ask her when we leave the game, her response is, "after we sing Carmen Ohio with the team." I can't believe people are willing to spend $160 for a couple tix and then leave in the third. I want to see some third stringers get playing time!!!
Tuition hikes. College debt my kids are likely to rack up.
Traffic and Parking !!!
The parking bill is one of the many reasons I may never have a car on campus.
T&P is the reason I still have student debt.
I learned that if you don't pay your OSU parking fines, they won't let you graduate......fuckers
$100,000 in debt my daughter brought home from tOSU. Top that F'ers......
Just wondering if your daughter is a student at TOSU, if that is her in your profile picture? Because if so I will gladly take on that 100,000 for you. Just kidding but thats a lot of money to be paying back to someone, even if it is going to the good guys.
if she looked like that, it's likely she wouldn't have incurred that debt.......
The John Cooper years.....It's the memory of those years that keeps me from going absolute batsh*t-crazy-comment-style on ttun fans about the head to head matchup record over the last 12 years. Those years keep me grounded in the reality that the shoe was on the other foot not that long ago.....damnit.
Ugh, you have the winner. Can't begin to count the number of times pissed off, oh wait, no, I can. And that number is TEN TIMES IN THIRTEEN YEARS.
So I'm taking a Tressel/Meyer pill and going to my happy place now.
All the prognosticators that state the reason Ohio State can't win a National Championship this year is because the team is too young in the front 7
Battles are sometimes won by generals; wars are nearly always won by sergeants and privates. Football is no different, the guys down in the trenches win the games, not the coach.
The people who say OSU always loses big games, obviously oblivious to OSU's 6-3 record in BCS bowls.
People who bash on OSU for playing nobody when many power programs themselves play nobody, particularly in OOC play.
People who say OSU is a bunch of criminals because a few guys got arrested.
People who think Tressel is a bad person. People can make mistakes without being a bad guy.
Class of 2010.
TTUN fans bragging about the wins from the leather helmet days
Bet you can't say "Bert Bielma is a bumbling buffoon" five times fast.
players getting into trouble for stupid shit.
fans on websites kissing the players asses as well as obsessing over recruiting.
idiots on espn and their OSU haterade.
Those homer fans are probably the ones who dv'd you haha
Field Turf. I miss grass and mud. The field now is so bright it takes away from the players IMO.
Dustin Fox was our leading tackler as a corner.... because his guy always caught the ball.
ESPN trolling OSU constantly and Mark May
People who think ESPN trolls OSU
Ohio State using premium game pricing instead of differential pricing.
"Ohio State will not use ticket differential pricing, meaning that a seat in Row 1 of Section 23AA will cost the same as sitting in the top row of D Deck. The Athletic Council said fans are paying for the experience and just being in the stadium allows them to take part in that, regardless of the seat location."
If they need the extra money I wish they would charge more for field and A deck and less for D deck and obstructed view seating.
I would rather pay more for an A deck seat and attend a "bad" game than pay more for an obstructed view, or D deck seat, to attend a "good" game.
The bandwagon fans who can't name more than 3 players.
“Nothing that comes easy in this world is worth a damn.” -Woody Hayes
I can't stand the fans of ttun from around where I live in Ohio that don't even know their teams colors. I've heard them call their colors blue and gold, blue and yellow, and even had someone say corn-yellow and blue...not to mention that they usually can't name even 2 players on the team or even the coach.
That scum performed Script Ohio first.
I like the away jerseys better then the home ones.
The fact that we struggle with Purdue as much as we do.
The failure to perform in the 2007 BCS National Championship Game. I will never get over it.
"Brady Hoke rhymes with Gravy Boat." by incredibly brilliant bucksfan
I will never know how good Maurice Clarrett would've done in his soph, junior, possibly senior years at Ohio State.
Nothing about Ohio State upsets me. There are high points and low points at times, but that is part of life. It's those low times that make the good times all the more sweet.
it pissed me off when they took these stripes off the jerseys!
this times eleventy bazillion. WHY CAN'T WE HAVE SOME GREY ON THE HOME JERSEY? this should not bother me but it does. we look like Wisconsin. PUT GREY ON THE JERSEY!
That I will never experience the tailgating experience before the changes/location. I went as a kid (12-14) but obviously couldn't enjoy the festivities as a grown adult would.
You talking about Hineygate getting the axe?
Hey, yeah, I miss Hineygate! That gets added to my list here too.
2002 NC will always be marred by idiots who refuse to acknowledge that OSU won fair and square because a ref took 3 seconds too long to throw his flag at a pivotal point in the game. Always going to be someone who has never too the time to actually find out what happened mocking Ohio State for astericks win.
i would upvote you but apparently i'm still too new here. yes, this still bothers the heck out of me even though it shouldn't. something about not having an "undisputed" or "clean" win over that Miami team (who everyone in the world assumed was going to completely destroy the bucks) frustrates me to this day...
Fans who think Ohio State should win every single game they have ever played and if they haven't it is somehow the refs/Gene Smith/ESPN/Anyone other than the players and coaches fault.
"Fans" who don't comprehend that Tatgate was more about lying than it was anything else.
Fans who think every little critique of OSU is somehow a reporter trying to be a troll and that they are completely biased in every facet of their reporting. Some guys are trolls (Mark May) but some people are objectively looking at a team that isn't perfect and simply reporting the weak spots.
Good ones! Last one is dead on!
The loss of Papa Joe's pisses me off. Loss of many memories (and probably brain cells) in that place.
still have a mug and a glass from the place...
The realization after moving to Columbus that Ohio State sporting events sadly serve as a dais for snobby, elitist, braggadocios rich douche bags that care more about social status and being seen at high profile games, tailgating in high profile locations, sitting in high profile sections, hobnobbing with other high profile ass wipes so much more than the success of, cheering genuinely for and closely following the team. These events (to some) are used as vehicle to, simply put, show off. And that pisses me off.
I know there's a game saturday, and my ass will be there.
Whenever anything illegal happens in college football and the first words are "this is like what happened at Ohio State"
Ill take "this is like what happened at Ohio State" any day over "once again, there are arrests involving Ohio State players!"
Nothing. I'm a fan of the Ohio State Buckeyes, nothing about that annoys me.
Percy Harvin role by far #1
Then all the blame Meyer gets for past players or current ones for that matter. These guys make their own choices...I don't think Urban's the devil on their shoulders as they make their own decisions.
Some people think we’re the hunted.I don’t feel that way at all. We’re the hunter.Everybody wants an angry football team.Everybody wants a team on edge and a hungry team.If you’re a hunter, that usually equates to being hungry.
"because we couldn't go for three"
Mark Troll May.
Desmond Howard's bullcrap.
Referencing every NCAA violation to "Tattoogate."
"Fans" who sit in the shoe, don't even cheer for a touchdown against Michigan, then act like you're doing something wrong when you stand up and root for your team. OSU has enough money, throw these guys out on their ear who pay top dollar for tickets and let some real fans in there. Then we'll be louder than the SEC.
The stupid freaking cops outside the shoe. The 2009 Iowa game I was walking where the Visitor buses unload the opposing team. I had my back turned and the visitor buses rolled in with those asshole cops on the motorcycles. The freaking cop runs into me right up the back of my leg going like six seven mph. Hops off the bike and cusses me out for being in his way. Threatened to throw my ass in jail whole nine. F#ck the police.
"Straight from the under ground"
no grey on our home jerseys. there will never be a justifiable excuse for this, i don't care what anyone says. we are not wisconsin, we are not nebraska.
moving from st johns to vca
~Naples Buckeye - "May God have mercy upon my enemies, because I won't." - General George S. Patton, Jr.
I love the passion and all, but part of me could do without the "O H I O, rip his f#*&ing head off"... on the kickoffs.
Agreed. I love the enthusiasm, but I think the student section could come up with something a little more classy and creative.
How about " send him back to his momma" ? A little cleaner anyways.
Bury me in my away jersey, with my buckeye blanket. A diehard who died young. Rip dad.
When Beth Mowins calls OSU players by the wrong name...or anything to do with SEC being our Daddies. Considering our record is actually a winning record against them if you incorporate the regular season wins as opposed to just bowl game loses. 21-13-3. That makes me the most upset. Even more than TTUN fans compiling stats/wins before 1950 (or before most of them were ALIVE).
Seeing these irks me every time.
If you always put limits on everything you do, physical or anything else, it will spread into your work and into your life. There are no limits. There are only plateaus, and you must not stay there, you must go beyond them. ~ Bruce Lee
Agreed - I'm surprised some engineering grads have never figured out a way to get up there stealthily and re-paint them. It's sort of like having a scar from cancer surgery - when you look at it, it makes you think about your rival.......
1. Eh... the fact that any criticism of the team (even if it's legitimate and not just whining / finding something to bitch about) or any comment that can be regarded as being negative is immediately downvoted on this site. I kinda hate that feature really.
2. Doesn't bother me that much but people that complain about the hybrid position being called the Percy Harvin role... really, who gives a crap?
3. The extreme hatred of ESPN by OSU fans. Is a lot of the stuff they do extremely annoying? Without a doubt. Are they biased towards the SEC? They sure are. Does Mark May hate Ohio State? Yes, and he doesn't even try to hide it. But people go way overboard about ESPN and their supposed bias against OSU. Hell, it seemed like they were talking about Ohio State (in a positive way) almost every freaking day back before the season started.
No. 3 above. We get our panties in a wad anytime ESPN says virtually anything, then continue to watch the channel reverentially. Makes us sound like a bunch of crazy bitches hunting an ex-boyfriend's new girlfriend.
No offense to the ladies; guys can act like this, too, around ex's
Internet high fives to you both
I hate the fact that because of the BCS the Rose Bowl is seen as just another BCS game by younger fans.
I hate the Ohio Stadium renovations.
I hate piped in music that splits your ear drums.
I hate easter basket grass colored field turf.
I hate that when showing other schools the student sections are featured prominently on television, with OSU you get the impression the stadium is filled with middle aged men in fancy dress.
Definitely with you on the Rose Bowl.
I hate easter basket grass colored field turf.
I hate easter basket grass colored field turf.
^That's exactly what a piece of that turf feels like. I don't hate it but it is an accurate description of what it is.
Where my alma mater is concerned, I'm not a hater.
1) Anti-OSU media bias;
2) Suffering NCAA sanctions for modest infractions while other programs get nothing for severe violations (e.g. Auburn, Miami, Ok St);
3) TTUN arrogance (no matter how baseless and humiliating for them, it is quite annoying).
"The minute we stop expecting greatness, we become Wisconsin."
Living in freaking Toledo, the armpit of Ohio and its mass amounts of arrogant Michigan fans and no-nothing fake buckeye fans. (which have a nickname, trying to keep it clean). We are the minority believe it or not.
see how the mass of men worry themselves into nameless graves while here and there a great unselfish soul forgets himself into immortality
We don't use "bring the juice" anymore............back in my day...........
- People mentioning the 3pt win against Indiana as if Ohio State was trading leads with them.
- Ohio State fans that downplay Tressel's success.
- M*chigan fans that mention Denard being hurt, yet conveniently ignore John Simon not playing.
- BTN nitpicking everything about Ohio State. Teddy Greenstein having Ohio State 4th in the BigTen is troll worthy.
- People that seem to think Kenny is Braxton's equal.
Big agreement with you regarding people downplaying Tressel's accomplishements. Tress brought us back to the elite level year in and year out.
That guy that has been to every game since 1943 and still sits against the wall in the open end of C deck!
People who were born and raised in Ohio, have absolutely no connection to TTUN but choose to hate on OSU and root for our most hated rival.
Homers who think being a fan of something means you can't ever question decisions or make negative comments about OSU.
Idiots on various websites who continually call OSU "Cheaters", Urban Meyer a "Liar" and claim there are "Pot Leafs" on the helmets.
“I have yet to be in a game where luck was involved. Well-prepared players make plays. I have yet to be in a game where the most prepared team didn't win.” -Urban Meyer-
Being forced to choose between being the coach of Texas or USC. I could not vote today.
The pending demolition of St John Arena.
I hate Seven Nation Army. Find something original.
I hate the PA announcer trying to yell about t shirt toss over the the stadium's O H I O cheer.
I hate the general apathy from the crowd on gamedays. Most don't want to get involved.
I hate how the band plays to the chairback seats at halftime, while they are 50% empty.
I hate how D deck ticket costs the same as a ticket in A deck.
I agree. I went to my first game a few years back when we played Troy. I had to pee so bad but I wouldn't get up. I didn't want to miss the band at halftime! Unfortunately, the die hard fans that would love to be there either can't afford it or don't have the access to tickets that some do. I considered my trip to the shoe as a sort of "mecca" and I wanted to take in the sights. I got there at 7am to walk around, went to the skull session, sat through the whole game and half time, walked around campus and went to Woody's tavern in the student union after the game and took a ton of pictures! It was a great day and the game was only a small part of it! To those that have season tickets; consider yourselves very fortunate and make sure you cherish those times inside the shoe.
"Anything easy ain't worth a damn." - Woody Hayes
-The media's exaggeration of the Tat-Gate "scandal"
-Going 12-0 and not being able to play for the whole ball of wax
-Fans that throw beer on people and constantly yell obscenities at games
-Wearing alternate uniforms against scUM
-Seven Nation Army. Overplayed, unoriginal and annoying
-not having a real hockey arena
-having the Schott across the river, which takes revenue away from businesses on high street
-high ticket prices
-gimmick uniforms against michigan
-the entire history department at OSU
2-10-1......I lived through it and I'm STILL pissed!!!!!!!!
That it cost $8 to rent one of those comfy seats at the shoe. I stand up most of the game but when I need a break I sit on a metal bleacher. And the rich guy and his son are sitting nice and comfy.
#2... That rich guys kid playing on his phone or whatever the whole game.
#3..... Ppl that ask me to sit down. Especially when they have the rented seats. My ass goes numb in minutes was my number four. But I added it here.
#4... The fact that SCum has the better record for the game. I hope before I die that changes.
Dish Network cancelling the Big Ten Network...total BS!! Now I have to go to B-dubs or somewhere to catch a game at 9 am. (I'm on Vegas time)
“Show class, have pride, and display character. If you do, winning takes care of itself.”
I hate how small the designated seat is. I'm 6'3" 250 (not much muscle but still I'm not that round) I can't sit on my number without leaning forward so I'm not shoulder to shoulder to the other average sized men next to me. It looks like I'm trying to push my cleavage up to impress people when I sit back. With the raised ticket prices tOSU can afford to cut a couple numbers off of a section and give a little more space
My buddy and I commented on how old we were, because we were really excited when the 2 hot college co-eds sitting next to us left in the 2nd quarter of the Buffalo game so that we could have more space...
With that said... I hate people who leave in the 2nd quarter to go drink... Just stay at the bar and watch it there.
Next time put the coeds on your lap. Problem solved.
When People sing the fight song and get the words wrong. In the Buckeye Battle Cry its "we've got to win this game today. COME ON OHIO" not "we've got to win this game today. O-HI-O". Drives me up a wall.
Yes. Please get rid of Seven Nation Army!
Living in South Carolina and hearing over and over about back to back Outback bowls. Cannot wait until the stars realign and we beat the gamecocks so they will shut up
I just thank them for getting Cooper fired. Rock Hill here, how about you?
Spending time in Troy is just as bad.
Settle down people, Ryan Brewer was not the second coming Jim Brown!
The stadium dorm being replaced by luxury boxes and liquor club - nothing like swapping the under privileged for the over privileged.
1) Our AD who seems to be willing to do whatever Nike tells him they want to do to our uniforms. I get that uniform styles evolve ( no one wears tearaway jerseys anymore) but ever since Smith has taken the reigns he's been all to willing to let Nike dictate our tradition to us. These one-off uniforms are hideous ( however I tip my hat to the 2010 editions- those were pretty nice). And the buckeye leaves on the back of the neck just seems to busy for such an iconic uniform.
2) A stadium with field turf that when you watch on tv and it's a sunny day the glare can almost blind you
The B10 is not coming back anytime soon. Sorry folks. We have multiple teams that will just never recruit well enough.
I hate that our record from 2010 is 0-1.
In fact I hate that wins are vacated at all. The games happened, the punishment should be after the fact. I'm not a PSU fan but acting like they didn't play football games for 14 years doesn't resolve the fact that a perv molested kids. It screws up the history of college football.
I hate that people don't respect TP from an on- field perspective.
You know what grinds my gears?
Wearing "alternative" screwball uniforms for THE Game !
save that crap for iowa or something
I'm not saying, I'm just saying.
I hate when the Georgia fans down here try to rag on Ohio State for not going to a bowl game last year, We went 12-0, They went to the Capitol One Bowl...
M*chigan and Notre Dame fans that think because their teams looked inept against Bama, that means Ohio State would as well.
