PHONE'S RINGING -- IT'S URBAN ON THE LINE
Thanks for posting. Brings back a lot of fond memories of those early years of The Jake when the Tribe was at their best in recent history. And yes I still call it The Jake, you can keep all that progressive field junk, thank you very much.
I am a diehard Reds fan but even I loved Omar. I remember some of those mid-90s Tribe teams and it seemed like every player hit .300 with the exception of Omar. However, if the Tribe ever needed a base hit, it seemed like Omar was the man for the job. His defense was a given but, at least when I was watching, he always delivered late when the Tribe needed a hit. Again, I was usually watching the Reds but that was my perspective. Great article.
Omar was super clutch and the best defensive ss I ever got to watch. Hof for sure. Cleveland legend.

I like Omar, too. He was very entertaining and eloquent in the Ken Burns Baseball documentary. I don't know if he was a good enough hitter to deserve being in the Hall of Fame (especially when Trammell isn't in), but he certainly deserves a shot at big-league coaching and managing at some point.
