Okay, so I was thinking about this in the wake of LeBron's title last night and I figured I'd throw it out to everybody and see what opinions are out there.
First, full and open disclosure; I hate LeBron James. Before you start yelling "hater", understand that all of the following is true:
1) I am not and have never been a Cavs fan
2) I fully recognize he is the most talented player in the game today
3) I expect him to win more titles
4) His legacy is likely to finish as being one of the greatest in NBA history
The reason I hate him is simple: He's a whiner. Jordan's iconic facial expression was his tongue-hanging out as he floated through the air, Bird's was a stonecold expressionless look as he hit that just-broke-your-back three, Magic's was his smile, Kobe's was- well, alleged rape- but also just a killer look at the end of games . LeBron's? That oh-my-God-I-was-just-molested whiny look he gives the refs about fifteen times a game. He's better than that. It speaks to his character that he is always whining and flopping when all he reallly needs to do is just beat everybody. He's better than they are. Just beat them.
So that long digression was actually not my question. My question is: If you can have any one NBA player for a seven game championship series, who would would be your top five choices in order? A caveat: Assume the other four players and two or three backups on the team are all average at their position. They are also the right fit for the player's preferred style. For example, John Stockton's four would include four average players that prefer to play in slow half-court sets emphsazing the pick and roll.
5) Horry....kidding, kidding...five is actually tough between Shaq, Russell, and Olajuwon. I'll go Russell.
Who are your five?
