PHONE'S RINGING -- IT'S URBAN ON THE LINE
It's a Buckeye thing!
You wouldn't know it by the way people here drive. :/
"YOLO" = I'm about to do something extremely ignorant/stupid & I need an excuse to do it.
I second this. When snow hits the ground in Columbus, people act like they are scared to drive and roam the streets like senior citizens. Out my way slowpokes!
Insert witty remark
Honestly though, I prefer the slo-pokes to the idiots in the SUV who thinks that just because he's in an SUV he can do 80 down an unplowed lane.
It's even worse here in Germany around the Army base. So many of the soldiers and their families are from places that never see snow. It's pure hell for me (and I'm sure the Germans don't exactly love it either).
Scotch: It may be too early to drink it, yes; but people it is never to early to think about it.
Hahaha you all have no idea. Here in tn, if there's a chance it snows, which it doesn't. People flip their shit
I live in the town up north, and it's the same. Must be a midwest thing (could just be an Ann Arbor thing), snow or rain and the general population freaks out.

Woo hoo! I also recently saw recently that we have one of the fastest growing downtowns as well. Things are coming up Cbus!

I wish the City Center mall were still downtown.
chicks dig the C-bus! chicks dig the C-bus!
(mainly because of the malls)

That sound you hear from the Ann Arbor area is hundreds of arrogant heads exploding!
But hey, those Michiganders still have Detroit...
Hey, even Cleveland is better than Detroit...
Since I can't embed it, here it is.
That's a really impressive thing to add to the city's notoriety. Well done, Columbus.
They'll use this as a reason to raise the gas prices.
I felt proud...Then got worried and checked the date the story was posted. Whew, Not April 1st. Columbus 'til I die!
So, by converse properties, does this automatically mean that Ann Arbor was named "Least Intelligent City in America"?
Only if it's lumped in with Detroit.
"Outside of a dog, a book is a man's best friend. Inside of a dog it's too dark to read." - Groucho Marx
Columbus stands on its own. Ann Arbor has become suburban Detroit.
Ann Arbor is nearly an hour from Detroit, hardly a suburb.
I mean, this is cool and all, but what the hell was the criteria? I've met a lot of really bright people affiliated with the university, batelle, etc. but, I've gotta think some place in Silicon Valley should be above us... regardless, lets run with it and ask questions later.
Part of the criteria was diversification, of which Silicon Valley has none, whereas Columbus has very diversified industries (Chemical, Aerospace, Insurance, Medical Research, the multitude of things done at Battelle).
I can see why we'd win on diversification, but why is that included? if everybody in my family is a Nobel winning physicist, and your family members are all successful in different fields, does that make your family smarter than mine?
just playing devil's advocate. I want so badly to believe this is all true, but I'm really struggling to fathom it. Silicon Valley, the research triangle, much of the pacific northwest...these are all places that are pretty formidable intellectually.
@740 - You're obviously just bitter that the 614 area code (Columbus/Franklin County) got the award and not the 740 area code. I know how you people up there think.
According to the story, they use a very complex formula to make the determination. I think any city would love to have the title. Quite an honor in my book.
I'm not from Columbus but I'd like to think I was in town the weekend they determined this.
These things are soo ridiculous..nothing against peeps in Columbus.
