Anyone else think that the quality of the Super Bowl Halftime show has drastically dropped? The last three of The Black Eyed Peas, Madonna and Beyonce have downright sucked. The best acts of the past 5-7 years have probably been The Who, The Rolling Stones and Tom Petty.

I personally am not a huge Beyonce fan but I thought the performance was pretty solid. I am 40 and although I'd rather see something from geared more towards my age I do realize that the yhave to pick the talent based on the whole audience. Beyonce iscertainly entertaining and I thought she was pretty god lastnight.
I agree. It wasn't the greatest performance ever but they could've picked much worse acts.

Am I the only one that never pays much attention to the Halftime show? The only reason this one caught my attention was because of what she(Beyonce), was wearing.

I'm a pretty big fan of the Stones, but I think that their Super Bowl performance was probably the worst halftime show that I've seen (the Black Eyed Peas come close). Beyonce's a damn good pop artist, though the lack of singing on her part definitely disappointed me. I thought the "show" was good, even if it was basically a massive dance number.
Apparently, her show used so much power that it blew the transistors after the second half began, hence the blackout.
U2 in 2002 Superbowl was pretty good?
If by some chance CBS ever decided to re-broadcast Beyonce's halftime show, I wouldn't watch. I thought it was average, and if the Super Bowl 2nd Half hadn't been on the same channel, I would have changed stations about a minute into the routine.

I love the Who and Tom Petty and I don't particularly care for Beyonce. However, the spectacle of her show was impressive. The bands you listed are great bands but had less than impressive shows. Best halftime show ever was the MJ's.

But really, how hard would it be to get a solid band like the Foo Fighters to perform at halftime? The past 3 halftime shows have been piss-poor, especially The Black Eyed Peas. I mean I couldn't even tell if Beyonce was singing. Flashing lights and attractive women dancing are nice, but how about some good music?
Best halftime show since Prince performed Purple Rain at the 2007 Superbowl, when it actually rained, while he was singing lol.....

I guess my issue is I've lost ALL respect for Beyonce since her child birth fiasco...I can't imagine EVER being so full of myself that I would prevent other parents from being able to see their newborns on their time. I couldn't imagine ME dictating when other parents could see their newborn...
