Here's the deal...I have 8 guys in my wedding and need to come up with a cool groomsmen gift idea. Nothing cheesy but also something that's not going to break the bank. I can't do anything Buckeye related because not all are fans (morons I know). So I'm turning to my 11w brethren to help me out...we're all at least somewhat like minded since we all frequent this glorious site. Any cool ideas? Anyone given/received really sweet groomsmen gifts?

A bottle of liquor never goes out of style.
Never been a groomsmen as haven't hit that age yet, but maybe do a weekend with them if you know anyone with a lake house or do something like that.
That's called a bachelor party!
And we went big for that...Hung over for a full week.
I second the liquor.
I'm getting married in May and I'm thinking of getting my groomsmen personalized flasks...
With a small bottle of liquor of course.
Edit: Oh and congrats!!!
Thanks, appreciate it...congrats to you as well.
The flask is definitely in heavy consideration.
I agree on the flask. I have personalized one from being a groomsman: my name with their initials and wedding date.
It was nice to get something I actually use for once.
Go to thisiswhyimbroke.com. Cool unique stuff, some things obviously aren't affordable but there is some good priced stuff as well.
Great site! Didnt see a groomsmen gift but there are about 50 things on there I want to buy for myself.

Great site, thanks for the link. +1

The flasks might actually run you a pretty penny... So that might not work. But do some research and you might be able to find some on the cheap.
Custom coins are always cool. Custom knives as well.

No matter how sh*tty the tour is, it's always tough to leave.
How about 8 bridesmaids ?
8 Groomsmen is one LARGE wedding party!
Here's some suggestions: (all engraved/personalized, of course)
Money Clip
Pen Set
Glass Mug (handy for the reception)
Pocketknife
Tie Tack
Hope these help! Good luck!
My brother's wedding he got all the groomsmen shot glasses. Those are like $5-8 each depending on how large they are. One of my college buddies at his wedding gave us traveling manicure/grooming sets. I still use it. They're like $15 each. For $30 a pop you can get engraved flasks which is my all-time favorite wedding gift.

My brother got me a silver pocket watch(with my initials on it), when I was in his wedding. That could work.
"YOLO" = I'm about to do something extremely ignorant/stupid & I need an excuse to do it.
I got my groomsmen personalized mini Louisville Sluggers. It's been a few years but i think they ran about $30 a piece.
Can't believe this hasn't been posted yet
Larry: [Larry jogs out to the mound to break up a players' conference] Excuse me, but what the hell's going on out here?
Crash Davis: Well, Nuke's scared because his eyelids are jammed and his old man's here. We need a live... is it a live rooster?
[Jose nods]
Crash Davis: . We need a live rooster to take the curse off Jose's glove and nobody seems to know what to get Millie or Jimmy for their wedding present.
[to the players]
Crash Davis: Is that about right?
[the players nod]
Crash Davis: We're dealing with a lot of shit.
Larry: Okay, well, uh... candlesticks always make a nice gift, and uh, maybe you could find out where she's registered and maybe a place-setting or maybe a silverware pattern. Okay, let's get two! Go get 'em.
vacuuming sucks
When I think of candlesticks I think of that scene LOL

Coleman makes a metal insulated cup with a neoprene top that holds 12 oz, long neck bottles perfectly. I think they run roughly 20 bucks and can hold cans as well.
What is breaking the bank? I got my groomsmen this in September last year:

Edit: Silver is super low right now, too...
Edit part deux: I missed the part about Buckeye stuff. But there's all kinds of cool stuff there.
Ha, I'll probably get myself a couple of those...
Breaking the bank is definitely a relative term but I'd prefer to keep it under $100.
I got my groomsmen nice watches from a store called Ross here in Arizona. It's a discount store with name brand merchandise. They were like $120 watches for $50. The guys like them and we all wore them for the wedding.
Purple Raider
I got my groomsmen a glass mug with just their name on it and a cigar.
Edit: get them a chuggler (see http://www.chuggler.com/) and a cigar.
Chuggler?? That sounds NSFW HAHAHA.

That looks like pretty solid idea.
My brother was in a wedding and the groom got all the groomsmen personalized bobblehead dolls. There are a bunch of websites that you can upload a picture of them and they will make the doll look almost exactly like them. It was by far the best and most unique gift I have ever seen for a wedding party.
Ha, thanks. I saw that somewhere and it's in the running...
Pay for part of their tux/suit. If they're buying suits, then pay for their shirts or if they're renting tuxes give them a gift card to the store. That way it's something they use and not some personalized knick-knack that will sit around and collect dust.
We should strive to keep thy name, of fair repute and spotless fame...
(Also, I'm not a dude)
get them all 2012 ohio state pro combat jerseys, o wait...
seriously though, take them to a good barbershop and pay for them all to get straight razor shaves, pretty manly gift IMO
That's very cool.

They are coming. Be patient.

That's a grown ass man suggestion right there buddy. I was going to have a formal wedding this summer but we (by we, I mean SHE) opted (after a year of chess like strategy on my part) for a destination wedding, so I cut down the list of 6 groomsmen down to just 1 on account of some people not being able to make the trek. I had I gone the formal route, this wouldn't have been my gift but I was going to hire a barber to do this for me, my dad, her dad and my groomsmen. I still may do it in the Dominican Republic, but it would just be for me, my dad and future dad in law.
I'm seconding Kevin's motion here. That is a great gift, its unique, and it won't break the bank. Maybe combine it with a straight razor kit for your groomsmen. You can get a lot of good quality stuff for minimal cost.
4-6 seconds from point A to point B and when you get to point B, be pissed off
A solid 6 pack or a flask is a good idea. Every man should own a quality pocket knife though, or some sort of multi-tool. Also, consider a personalized yo-yo. As dorky as it sounds, they are friggin awesome. Also, think about a cool pair of shoes, like some Chucks or Sambas that match the vest in the tux, that way you can incorporate those in the groomsmen photos.

I got married this summer in 90 degree heat, so I got my groomsmen Under Armor under shirts to wear under their tuxes to help keep them cool. I bought myself one too and wear it all the time.
I only had my bestfriend as my best man and my brother as my other groomsman. Plus I decided I didn't want to rent a tux and do that stupid crap, so I bought us all suits at Jos A. Bank. Not really nice suits but they were tailored more to us than the rental tux was.
Also, I somehow had my wife pick the colors of Scarlet and Gray as our wedding colors, I couldn't believe it took her to say them before it dawned on me. I'm an idiot.
anyways, I bought us all gray suits and then red ties with block O's. My best man wasn't and is still not an OSU fan. I forced him to wear that suit and made him do the O.H.I.O with the rest of us. He sucked it up like a man!
so, suits and ties is what I did but might be too expensive for you. We also bought everyone tervis cups with lids (about $15-$20 each) with either favorite teams, cool logos or funny sayings. They were well like as well plus Tervis cups are awesome. I have a buckeye one, a Chiefs one and one that says HIS. (Damn right, that cup is MINE!)
EDIT: The best thing you can give them, comfort! Don't stick them in uncomfortable situations like heat, stupid dances and horrible outfits. Take care of your guests and they will remember your wedding fondly. Oh yeah, feed them early too! None of this apetizers at 8:30 crap. Need real food to soak up the alcohol no later than 6:30-7:00. Main course should be at 8:00. Hate weddings where you are not allowed to eat til after 8pm. BS!
And don't have a ceremony at 2pm and then a reception at 6:30pm. Most guests aren't going to be able to find things to do in the dead period in between. Plus, they won't want to change clothes. Once I'm out of formal attire, I'm not getting back into it. Like Squirrel said, timing is everything. Ceremony at 4:30pm, appetizers at 5:30pm, dinner at 6:30pm, party 'til whenever.
Unfortunately, when you get married in a church, they dictate the times the ceremony can be held.
Get everyone a pair of nice dress socks for the wedding...or ties to wear with a suit (if not wearing a tux)
DONE. I've already purchased ties for all the groomsmen.
the flask, hands down. I have been in a wedding and received a flask, engraved with my initials. perfect gift cuz everytime I use it i am reminded of the weekend.
If you're into good liquor, check out masterofmalt's "Drinks by the Dram". They're 30ml (1.01 oz) bottles of Scotch, Bourbon, Rye, Cognac, and plenty more--and a lot of their offerings are very high end; so you can spoil your buddies with a small glass from legendary (and now-defunct) Islay distilley Port Ellen. Even cooler, buy your groomsmen the old standard flasks, and then fill it with this, giving them the empty bottle as "proof".
Granted, you can also just buy a 100-200 bottle of liquid ambrosia, and split it with your groomsmen, giving them more booze overall. There's a lot of awesome independent releases (especially of Scotch) that sometimes deliver an astounding value.
This idea came up last week in the thread about straight razor shaves, but I love the idea of taking groomsmen to The Master Shavers for a personal shave and cocktails. Check out the "Ultimate Shave" here - could be a great experience for you and your buddies.
Dang. That place looks great. I have lived in CBus for 13 years now and never heard of it. I am definitely going to hit that up.
Not yet been there myself, but it is very, very high on my to-do list...
BEER MUG! Get them one with their favorite team on it. Unless it's TSUN. Then maybe get them their favorite NFL team or something :)
Can't help you with your bride and her bridesmaids, though...
Class of 2010.
I gave all my guys a Pint of Crown Special Reserve and a $20 cigar
Damn it. Maestro beat me to it. Kudo's to you, sir. "Candlesticks. Candlesticks are always nice."

I think the most useful gift I ever got was personalized leatherman. I still use it at least once a week. I keep it on my car.
Roll with it.
