It was a stick. A few friends and I were roaming down lane after some heavy drinking (we were banking on a snow day) and stumbled upon the group who sculpted this.
Edit: I see I was a little overzealous and late on this one.
Yup, it was the winter of 2008-2009, my girlfriend was living at Taylor Tower during that time. Pretty sure someone made it on a weekend, and we got the next day off. I remember walking past it right after they canceled school for the next day. We had like three consecutive years with snow days; considering the army that OSU employs to prevent such occurences, that's pretty awesome.
Also, Colin's right; it's a stick holding the dot of the "i" up.
I like Jason's better than the Script Ohio (both very good though). As impressive as the i dot is it should have been a mini-snowman holding a sousaphone.
Awesome! I saw this one on FaceBook the other day:

Still trying to figure out how they got the dot to stay.
Yard-sign post probably.
Maybe, I just don't see anything in between the line and the dot.
They threw a snowball. Perfect throw...perfectly timed photo.
^^^^ LOL!

Probably a little metal wire or something. But the idea of a snowball being thrown and captured on camera at the perfect moment sounds better.

They did this next to Taylor Tower a few years ago when I was at OSU. Pretty sweet.
35 hours to Pasadena! Go Bucks!

I only remember the giant snow cocks on the Oval from my days...
Class of 2010
Jason, is this at your house?
No, unfortunately it's not my creation. Just something that popped up on Twitter this morning.
Jason's picture is rather gnarly...really creative
This dude decided to make a Brady Hoke snowman.

One of my friends was part of the group who did the script Ohio. They also did a full size Gordon Gee snow sculpture, it was pretty awesome.
Gordon Gee snowman? Please tell me you have a picture.

On Facebook search for "snohio". The photos are in the albums. They also did a horseshoe, heisman trophy, and a brutus.
