My sources are telling me that UrbanWoodrowEarlTressel has been hired as President of YSU.
This is NOT confirmed.The President of YSU is stepping down August 1st,and his name came up as a top candidate.He's still at Akron U.

I have a trusted source at YSU who said that JT has accepted and will start the job "a few months down the road"
Makes me think a return to coaching won't be happening.
I have stated this all along. He will not return to coaching.
I have felt the same way. I felt like if he had left OSU on his own terms, he would'e worked out his contract and retired to go into something administrative or philanthropic.
IF this is true, nice to see Tressel returning home. I know he's a good coach, but how much does he know about being the president of a university?
Great people person, very organized and business-minded. Instant positive name recognition in the Youngstown/eastern OH area too, which = better fundraising...I think he'll be great.
Wouldn't it be something if Tressel replaced Gee years from now...
Media will have a field day with this much like the 2002 team carrying him off the field during the scUM game. At least all of us Buckeyes know whats up.

I can't see a situation that tOSU would hire Coach Tressel as President. Unfortunately it would be a PR nightmare.
I do think he could do great things for YSU though.
This is another one of those totally "unconfirmed rumors" threads circulating out there, like the one a week or so ago claiming Ohio State would play Clemson in the Kickoff Classic in 2017
. Tressel has been rumored as a candidate for the YSU presidency since the incumbent announced retirement plans. He as considered a "candidate" the last time the post was open.
The Board of Trustees appointed a search committee and hired an executive search consultant last week, and the committee is tasked with finding a slate of suitable candidates by May 15.
So while "President Tressel" may sound nice, it is complete fantasy, at least for the moment.
The same rumor popped up when Baldwin-Wallace was looking for a president as well and that never came to fruition.
Close friends with one of his immediate family members... This is just a rumor as of now. Really hope he gets it though, we in Youngstown still love him and remember the numerous GOOD things he has done for people both here and in Columbus more than the few bad decissions.
