Ummm... is it wrong to say "blogging about Ohio State at 11w"?
Stalking recruits on twitter and in twitter pictures.
I take a break from stalking recruits to eat...
Work has been crazy lately, 6-12's. Usually, hunt all winter and fish spring, summer, and fall. Right now the only hobby is 11W when I get a few free minutes.

Know why all the trees in Ohio point north?

Trail ultrarunning. And then the ultrarunners' favorite other hobby: drinking IPAs.
Really like IPAs, but the only undrinkable one I ever had was in State College. Tried a local recommendation at a bar with 50 beers on tap, and this was the worst one ever.
My favorite is Sierra Nevada Torpedo Extra IPA. That is my go-to. At the moment I'm enjoying a Lagunitas New DogTown Pale Ale.
Thanks for the recommendation. I revert to Newcastle for familiarity, but I will look for SN Torpedo Extra!
Make sure you actually enjoy the "hoppiness" that is inherent in real IPAs. The hops in that beer have a lot of character and a lot of different flavor notes. It is one of the higher rated beers on Beer Advocate and definitely one of the easier high-rated beers to get ahold of... at least on the west coast anyway.
Since you're a west-coaster, ever try Green Flash's West Coast IPA? It's ludicrously hoppy, and their imperial Palate Wrecker is rated at 100+ IBUs, it's rediculous. I have a lot of love for Sierra Nevada, too--just finishing up a sixer of their Ruthless Rye IPA.
I love their West Coast IPA, but never buy it because it comes in a 4-pack that costs more than a 6 of Torpedo. The only time I've had it is when my wife brought it to the finish line of the Ray Miller 50-mile trail race last year. I thought it tasted like the best beer ever, but I had just run 50 miles and I was fantasizing about beer and steak for the last 20 of them.
EDIT: Just found a picture of me in that moment with the beer (it was my first 50 mile race):
Congrats, that is a hell of an accomplishment.
vacuuming sucks
Two Hearted was my go-to IPA. My new fave is Westbrook IPA based here in SC. It's a fantastic everyday IPA
I'm always a fan of the Dogfish Head IPAs, out of Rehobeth, Delaware, for anyone outside of their growing footprint.l
Right after I finished my first 50 this past November we drank champagne and then we pulled the car over 20 minutes later so I could throw it up on the side of the interstate.
Next time I'll have a beer.
What have you got planned race-wise for this year? I'm running Big Sur in April and I'm really excited about that.
Taquitos.
Denny - I had to scale back my plans last year after a knee injury, so it wasn't really eventful until I ran in The North Face Endurance Challenge 50 mile at Marin Headlands in December. That race was a mud-fest with heavy rain and I dropped at Mile 32 with pain in my IT Band. I'm running the Ray Miller 50 again this coming Saturday, then I have the Zion 100 in April and Angeles Crest 100 in August. That is pretty much it on my race schedule. I am planning on running the entirety of the Tahoe Rim Trail in October with a group.
Last we talked about running I don't think I knew you were looking at doing 50s. Congrats. It is a lot of work to get to the point you can run those races, but if you love running and can handle the training volume, and are determined, I think anyone can do it. You just have to set your mind to it.
I know about sickness. If I exert myself a lot in a race or long run I have to eat immediately afterward and NOT wait until I get hungry, or I get sick at the same time I am hungry. I was at the early stages of getting my fitness back when I ran the Leona Divide Trail Marathon last September (about 7,000 feet of gain) on a day it was 95 degrees. I finished, but violently brought back up my two post-race Sierra Nevadas and the post-race lunch. Fun times...
And let me add that the biggest problem with being a long distance runner and a college football fan is working your weekend long runs around games. I've had to give up my religious watching of football all-day, but do what I can to work my long runs around Ohio State football.
Made a semi-sober promise to a friend, so we ended up running the JFK 50 together. It was awesome, and I plan on running another ultra this year -- though I haven't planned which one yet. I gave myself tendinitis during the course of the 50 and am just getting back into the swing now. Either way, it was a hell of a time and hopefully I'll keep up with the ultra running. Gotta get back into 26.2 shape first though.
Good luck this weekend. Tahoe Rim sounds fantastic.
Taquitos.
Garage fridge is temporarily holding Bell's Hopslam and Three Floyd's Zombie Dust.
Torpedo is solid and I always seasonally look for Sierra Nevada Celebration. Their whole lineup good and very budget friendly.

Do you play any poker at the Hollywood in Columbus? I've been up there 5 of the last 6 weekends.

I was just up there this weekend for the first time playing blackjack. I'll go back and hit up the poker room soon enough though.

I forgot to add Mountain biking thought I haven't done it near as much since I left Columbus. I'm not sure if you live in Columbus but if so I recommend you check out the trails at Alum Creek and ride down the Olentangy trail. Good trails if you're looking to stay within the city of Columbus.

Cooking, drinking, and snowboarding. I also watch a lot of movies, and have a crippling addiction to Wikipedia and coffee.
Hopefully (as soon as the girlfriend allows) I'll soon be getting into home brewing and meat-curing.
I use to have that as well. lol But that was back when it was more detailed.

Not reading The Dispatch and secretly planting buckeye trees in Ann Arbor.
Cooking (everything but baking but primarily outdoorsy stuff, like Grilles, Smokers, Dutch Ovens, etc)
Reading (the advent of e-book services like the Kindle, Apple books, etc has really gotten me back into reading. Makes it so easy to find and sample a wider variety of subject matter)
Hiking (Its been in the 60s-80s here in Austin the last few weeks. Been trying to get explore some new trails before the summer heat comes along and kicks me in the face. I love the winters down here but I am still a midwesterner at heart and this ridiculous summer weather still kicks my tail.)
Others include playng a few video games (generally because my wife goes to bed an hour or two before I do) and working out (I used to keep in shape by playing basketball but after a few years of knee, back, and shoulder problems I had to look for other avenues).
Cigars, running, reading, smoking meats, family time and cooking.

Reading, exercising(if I weren't lazy i'd do this more), video games, following Buckeye recruiting, watching tv(Suits, The Walking Dead, and Gravity Falls) and playing with my 13 month old niece.
I want to ride my bike more, and get better at cooking(going from sucking to ok shouldn't be too hard). I would try skydiving, but i'm not completely insane.

Writing poetry and taking long walks on the beach...
Another Playboy centerfold candidate!!
Running, fixing a 90 year old house, reading (not enough). Starting a new hobby (making bitters) in February, hopefully it goes well.
Taquitos.
Wanted to say reading, but because I don't do it enough I felt like I couldn't :)
What kinds of bitters are you going for Denny?
Going to start with fruit-based mixes (probably orange and apple) with spring/summer coming up. The extraction process takes about a month total (assuming I don't use lab glassware to speed up the process shout out to Sohxlet extractors). Since it's a process I've got to think ahead, and I think orange and apple will be a good start. After that, maybe cherry and pear. Rhubarb is somewhere down the line (gotta make the Swinekiller a la Cochon).
Basing my initial recipes on those in a book that I got as a holiday gift (it's a really, really good book). Maybe I'll branch out afterwards. Problem is it's a slow process to make slight changes in recipes (not as slow as aging booze, though).
Taquitos.

Reading, painting/sketching, trail running and weight lifting. First person shooter video games (guilty pleasure).

Guitars, Guns, and Cigars...
I go to class, make websites sometimes, game a bit, fish/disc golf in the warm. Block "O" is my s-org, so it takes up a majority of my free time.
Reading history, shooting, playing soccer, and writing short fiction. And wine. Lots of wine.
Reading, starting crochet projects I almost never finish, photography, cooking/baking (recently made dark chocolate brownies with candied bacon in it! YUM!), and now going through my apartment and getting rid of everything I don't absolutely need so I can move to the Lake Tahoe area where, I imagine, my new hobbies will be trying not to kill myself skiiing and figuring out how to keep myself warm after living in San Diego for so long.
And like CPLUNK above, wine. Lots of wine.
Recipe, please!
http://allrecipes.com/recipe/bacon-brownies/
I was lazy, though, and used a box of dark chocolate brownie mix. I made the bacon according to the recipe. I also added a drizzle of caramel ice cream topping across the top before I popped them in the oven. I took them to a bacon-themed party, and they went over huge. :-)
Thank you. No shame in using a mix. You get points for improvisation with the caramel sauce.
Golfing in the summer. I'm actually hoping to qualify for the u.s. open this summer.
Talking about possibly someday restoring a car in the winter. It's always a good plan that never comes to fruition.
Playing golf and coaching basketball
Crossfit (is that really a hobby though?), going to Zeno's (if you know, you know), watching Jeopardy, trivia, reading ASoIaF.
Help is on the way.
My daughter and son-in-law are into cross-fit; seems like a cult but a bit crazy. I tease them about dragging concrete blocks across parking lots and back. I stick with traditional gym workouts.
Year-round ice fishing
Home Brewing and perfecting 4 or 5 different Chili recipes. This coming fall I am confident enough in both of my new skills that I plan on hosting my first annual Beer\Chili tailgate for friends and family. I've got two different beers planned to go along with the variety of Chili I plan on unleashing upon the world.
4-6 seconds from point A to point B and when you get to point B, be pissed off
One of these days, I want to make a Wit Chili, using pulled chicken (or duck), green chiles, chicken broth, and wheat beer.
I make a fowl chili that I'm incredibly proud of. I cube duck and Goose, cook them with bacon and onion, and immediatley add the rest of the goodies to the pot. A lot of people like draining the meat prior to using it in chili but that's like making a smore and throwing out the marshmallow before you eat it.
My personal favorie is my dark beer steak combo. Instead of any broth I'll use equal parts dark beer and coffee as the 'liquid' and it pairs really really well with the steak\sauce\beans\peppers combo. I can go on for days so I'll hold off.
4-6 seconds from point A to point B and when you get to point B, be pissed off
Damn, that sounds delicious! Do you use broth with your fowl chili? I like the idea of coffee and dark beer...perhaps I could try wit beer (Great Lakes Holy Moses) and Lapsang Souchong (heavily smoked black tea) in a fowl chili?
Running, trail running, beer, birding, yard work.
vacuuming sucks
Maestro - your list is roughly the same as mine, except I wouldn't call the yard work so much a hobby as a requirement. I also rarely bird anymore because of the trail running, but I am an avian biologist...
Very cool, I am just an amateur.
I do enjoy planting and caring for the yard even though it is required. My wife can lose me to the yard for hours at a time.
vacuuming sucks
I thought the Buckeyes were a hobby, but now I know better. ;} I am lazy as hell compared to all of you people. I've got a wife and a 9yo and 61/2yo at home that keep me hoppin'. no time for anything else other than work. But my favorite passed time is sleeping. I fookin love sleepin'. That, and drinkin. The IPA is my favorite too, I'm just not as sophisticated as some of you youngin's.
Reading, cooking, hiking, traveling, knife collecting, and poking smot.

Addicted to flag football year round. Enjoy bowling in the winter, golf in the summer; along with writing, staying in shape, singing and playing guitar and drums as much as I can.
Playing golf, cooking, and traveling. Sadly, as a student, I don't have that much time for any of those. But, I am open to trying just about anything new. On top of class, I have the SGSR broadcasting gig as well as being pretty involved in my fraternity.

Delta Sigma Phi. We actually don't have a house right now since we recolonized last year. But it's been a blast so far.

Play some golf. Love to race motocross though. Havent had any time to get out on the track lately but hoping soon! Other than that Black Ops 2 on the PSN
