Enjoy that. I suffered through a year of it as a fan of the White Sox-when a squabble takes place between Ozzie Guillen and Nick Swisher and Ozzie is the fan favorite, you know the other guy is a real tool. Buckeye or not, Swisher is a world class, grade A Jackass. I hope he lands in Cleveland.
4-6 seconds from point A to point B and when you get to point B, be pissed off
Easy buddy. Cleveland fans have suffered enough. Please don't wish any more ill will on them. I'm just an Indian fan wanting something positive to happen for a change. I'm tried of being in 1st place up until July and then dropping into irrelevancy and finshing 4th in the division.
I don't know much about Swisher, but everyone keeps saying he's a tool, so I'm beginning to think it's true.
Wow, in a minute we're going to start referring to one another as "friend" in that tone of voice where you really don't mean the other person's a friend at all, but that you have a 2x4 in your truck with the other guy's name on it...
From a Yankees fan perspective, Brewster pretty much nailed it, complete jackass, buckeye or not. I wouldn't give him a penny.
"You'll be proud of our young people in the classroom, in the community, and most especially in 310 days in Ann Arbor, Michigan on the football field."
Did anyone else notice that ESPN opted to run the AP story with the worst possible Tressel headshot? He looks like the guy from the old Keystone "bitter beer face" commercials. Bastards still won't give the guy a break...
yes, Andy ---- excellent notice. There are still some blackhearted Tressel haters at ESPiN. Those turds think they're cute with their subtle little trolling.
I wonder why a team would want this guy so bad. He's totally average from what I've seen of him. As a Reds fan I wouldn't mind if they signed him but to court him so heavily I just don't get it. Hasn't he made 12-15 mil a year to hit .240 with 20 or so home runs?
Have you seen the Indians play in recent years? The word awful comes to mind. They need help. They would probably heavily court you if they thought you'd help them win.
He's a numbers guy's wet dream though. Walks a lot-strikes out too much for the metric crowd, but has a good OBP\OPS. Career .260 hitter, averages 26 HR's a season but can play all three outfield positions and first base, so that probably helps his value a ton.
4-6 seconds from point A to point B and when you get to point B, be pissed off
The Indians are serverly lacking consistency in their lineup, Swisher is being heavily courted because while his numbers aren't outstanding he almost always performs at a consistent level. You can expect 150 games played, 250+ avg, 20+ HR's and 80+ RBI's every year.
For a team that can't keep players on the field and when they do they never seem to be consistent Swisher is a big addition.
2. He's a jerk who once he went big time forgot about his OSU friends...according to multiple (former) close friends and teammates. Think Big Ben only smaller :) guys a tool.
hmmm I'm not going to ask for proof, but curious as to what he does to ignore his old teammates...he just kind of blows them off, doesn't call them or text, return calls, etc.?
Well he did invite my friend (who was very close friends with Nick from childhood thru college) and his other longtime buddies to his wedding. They stayed for a long weekend and were all supposed to get together 2 nights before the wedding. He blew them off at last minute to hang with his new Hollywood friends. Then at the wedding itself he blew off his old buddies table to rub elbows with the A-Rod/Cameron Diaz types. Other guys from the Buckeye baseball team from that time have told me the same stories... I don't know Nick at all but I know these guys I've become friends with that knew him well, and they are great guys. On a positive note, I do think it was cool the Nick donated that money for the baseball field, I hope he didn't require them to name the field after him.
I was hoping he'd land w/ my Giants.

I'm not your buddy, guy.

Oh, if only I'd seen this before posting my own attempt at cleverness :)

Man, downvotes for a South Park reference? For the record, Tennbuckeye is my buddy.

It's better than the one they always use that makes Tressel look like a villian.
"YOLO" = I'm about to do something extremely ignorant/stupid & I need an excuse to do it.

yes, from a numbers perspective the Indians need his/anyone's help.
Swisher hit .272, 24 hr, 93 rbi last year
Santana led Cleveland with 18 hr and 76 rbi and there were only three guys who hit above .270 last season, one of whom (Choo) is gone.

It'd be nice to land another good player in the offseason (replacing Choo) along with Reynolds (good grab for a 1 year contract at 1B).
But even if Swisher pans out we'll just let him go like every other great player because we can't afford to keep them.
